a while ago i stripped an 80Gig harddrive from an old laptop. It now sits in an external "adapter" connected to my desktop comp, serving as an external hard drive. I want to completely clear/clean the external harddrive and use it for music, movie, picture files. How do i go about clearing all old data from this external harddrive?
Also...would it be a good idea to somehow isolate it from my other harddrive? to prevent "contamination" should my main harddrive get a virus?
    Thanks

    Keith

Open "My Computer" where your drive icons are displayed, and right click on the icon of the drive you wish to clear and select "Format" from the drop down menu.

Edited to add, that if the drive is connected to your computer it's as vulnerable as the other hard drives in it.....Keeping your anti-virus updated will be most likely your best defense.
