So we purify our well water and to make sure all pathogens and algae are dead... I let it sit in clear jugs on the deck of my man cave for a solid day. UV light kills creepy crawlers dead, and purifying water in clear containers is a commonly recommended practice in the third world.

So the other day I was cutting wifey a few roses when I noticed black streaks in an odd pattern of burn marks on the shed’s deck. First thought was angle grinder... but I hadn’t been grinding anything lately. Then it dawned on me. My OCD ritual of setting the jugs out magnified the sunlight into a little laser beam.

This burn in particular gave me pause.

So I tested the theory out on a fresh board

And sure enough.. fresh burn marks

I got to thinking, this has probably burned down many structures over the years. A quick google shows that it’s apparently a real thing even with bottled water in cars... Doesn’t seem very probable, but then again.. I never thought I’d almost burn down my reloading room / man cave by putting glass water jugs in the wrong place at the wrong time!

I’d store them near an ant bed.
