I've never tried to clean up the Registry on my older Compaq (Win XP) but all programs are getting pretty slow starting up, so I figured it's getting time to start a little lite trouble shooting.

I checked the Registry with a program called Easy Cleaner, which found 166 invalid entries.

I'm reluctant to do anything with the registry, so questions,
Should I remove all invalid entries?
If not, how do I know which ones not to remove?
Or should I just not let a program like Easy Cleaner mess with the Registry?

+1 on Ccleaner. It will also give you the option to backup. Nice little program.

I use CCleaner and have had good results.

Something else you may consider is HiJackThis and post your log HERE .

They will help you clean out the crap that CCleaner misses.
