I just got back from the range after shooting off about 150 rounds and a thought came to me "how often do I need to clean the glock?" is there a magic number of rounds? Or is it after everytime at the range?

On average after every 500 rounds... but I like to after every range trip.

+1 to after every range trip.

Just be sure you clean and lube it per the Glock Manual!

And clean the slide with the breach wall facing down as to not push crud into the firing pin channel. I saw another new glock owner's post about how he was getting lite primer strikes or none at all due to what likely was poor cleaning and over lubing.

    You have to clean them?:whistling:

I occationally just leave it in my pants and wash it minus the mag.

Sure does make a lot of noise in the dryer.

I bet if you use the Search function, you could find all of the information that you could not digest in a 100 lifetimes on how to clean a Glock on this board.

Once every thousand rounds is probably too often, but it's a nice round number.

I enjoy sitting down at the kitchen table after shooting and cleaning my gun. I don't really think of it as something I "have" to do.

I'm a trifle hard of hearing, did you say your going to " clean my clock?"

Everytime I shoot any of my guns. Never any rust always ready to go. Gets tedious though when I can just open my back door and shoot. :D

I may be a freak about my Glock, but every time i shoot. Sometimes in between times too. This ensures its ready to go no matter when I need it.

I do field strip cleaning after every range trip.
I use canned air to get all the loss stuff off, done outside of course.
Then I alternate between Rem oil and Break Free CLP, :couch: it's my way of preventing any kind of oil build up. At the very least swapping makes me pay more attention to detail.

I like CLP sprayed down the barrel and let to sit, and Hoppe's #9 for most everything else.

Then a good brushing, a few patches, and a drop or two of lube.

I too enjoy doing it after the range though, when I bring more than a couple guns, it can get old cleaning them all, but I def don't mind.
