i am thinking about turning a Glock 21 slide into a dedicated .460 Rowland. But as a CA resident if I want to have a compensator it needs to be pinned and welded because of the ban on threaded barrels. You can see how this creates an issue.

So does anyone have any experience with cleaning a Glock that has a barrel that can’t be completely removed from the slide?

Lock slide to rear scrub bore from muzzle end or use a bore snake. Even without removing barrel from slide there is plenty of space in which to work to get the gun clean sufficiently.

No but you can clean from the chamber end with a boresnake. Good solvent, let it soak and run a few boresnake runs through and you should be GTG.

Ridiculous gun laws, homelessness, housing market prices and high taxes aside I’m here because I was born and raised here. Met my wife here. Both our families and a lifetimes worth of friends are here. Our careers are here. Our house is here. The food and the weather here are second to nowhere in the entire world. Occasional fire storms, droughts and earthquakes aside it’s a pretty pleasant spot. But other than all that ya **** this state.

Kidding aside, though I lament the fact that I can’t exercise my 2nd amendment right as thoroughly as other Americans can I’m not about to uproot everything that is my life to move for the mere opportunity to shoot cooler guns.

That's a ported barrel. Not compensated.
I will agree how ever, that ported would be a better option.
Compensators can slow recoil speed technically barrel and slide speed. Where as ported has little affect on recoil timing.

    Not making this an argument.
Again I agee. Ported would be a better option in this case.
Especially when it comes to parts disassembly.

And to address cleaning of the barrel.
You pretty much just have to do the best you can.
You effectively have a barrel permanently trapped in a slide. Soak and scrub the best you can.

sorry, if I misidentified that barrel

thought that was an integral compensator and this was a ported barrel

    No problem.
Compensators have gas chambers. They collect gas pressure answer divert it. The can even dirert some of it forward helping counter reward recoil. Atleast the good ones do.

Ports are basically just holes diverting gas pressure. Mostly diverting it downward. Which helps fight muzzle rise. Don't do as much for reward recoil.

Technically any thing that is done to control recoil could be referred to as compensated. So technically your first post could be considered correct. But so would ten lbs. of weight tied to the barrel as well.

Swear I read somewhere that the ported barrel option was not as effective as an attached comp when dealing with .460 Rowland loads. This thing approaches .44 mag power out of a polymer frame. I mean, tell me if I read wrong. I've got no experience with it.

You read correctly. It’s true that compensators slow the slide. In the case of 460 Rowland level loads, that’s the whole point. Keeps from beating your frame to death.

Here’s 92 pages of the most detailed info on the internet about this sorta thing:
