Did you take some liberties with the "utilities" and that's what got you in hot water?

I'm confused...they're making you wear BDUs as punishment?

Or does "class B" mean a real uniform there?

Yeah I'm confused too. We have "Dress" Class As, regular duty Class As, and Class Bs which are 6 pocket pants, regular uniform shirt w no tie, and ball cap instead of 8 point.

In the hallway - it's on cuz!
    For us:
Class A: Long sleeve, tie, Class A pants, Ike jacket, Smokey hat.
Class B: Short or long sleeve, tie optional with long sleeves, Class A pants, Smokey hat optional.
Class C: Short or long sleeve, Blauer pants (not bloused, must be pressed and fit properly), ball cap optional.
Class D: Correctional officer uniform. Not exactly sure what the specs are, but pretty similar to Class C.
Class E: Bike patrol - shirt is kind of a blend of polo and regular uniform shirt. Knit shirt with patches, cloth badge and name tape, and pockets. Shorts, black athletic shoes.

Up until a year ago, Class B was the standard patrol uniform and C was only allowed for inclement weather. We now can wear C year round, but if our pants look crappy, the sergeant can order a change to B. Almost everyone has been very good about keeping their Blauer pants properly pressed and getting them replaced when they start to fade.

The public doesn't know the difference. Hell, most of them just see a guy in uniform - some people actually ask if we are SO or PD; we wear tan and green and every PD within 100 miles wears dark blue.

If I'm reading what the OP is saying correctly, it seems to work similiarly to how my old department had it. Class A's were tie, hat, all medals, high polish oxfords, etc. Class B's were basically the same uniform, but without a tie, no hat, boots, sweater/turtleneck if you felt like it and no pins/medals unless you wanted to wear them. Tacitals (I guess you could say Class C's) were BDUs w/optional baseball cap and bloused trousers. Once we were allowed to wear our Tacs on patrol, several guys ran into the same problem the OP is having. :dunno:
