Just wondering what brand might get the most votes.

    Colt

    Smith

    Ruger

    Taurus

I haven't included the more obscure choices like Korth, Rossi, Arminius, Medusa, etc......just those four major brands more commonly available to the average shooter/collector.

The front-runners will likely be Colt and Smith, and my personal #1 choice would be a pre-lock L frame Smith. If I kept what I chose, and money had nothing to do with the decision, the L frame would be my preference......even over a Python! :faint:

Give us a specific model of your choice......but, brand is essential to the intended results of this thread.

Choose a brand for what? General shooting, hunting, carry, only one revolver, etc? I'm not sure what I'm suppose to base my decision on.

I'd go with a Ruger for a hunting/outdoors gun. They're built like a tank. My 4" GP100 is awesome. I'd rather carry a Smith, they're lighter. Colts are beautiful and IMO the best looking. I don't really have any use for a Taurus.

I think a well tuned Smith is the best.
Pythons were pretty guns but the trigger travel is too long and the latch is counterintuitive.

S&W, it doesn't take much thinking to figure it out. everything from 5 shot J frames to the 8 shot 627 and barrel lengths from under 2" to over 8"

    Best trigger:
Colt Python - Only this model. Single and double action is sweet.
    Or
    Smith - 686, 19, 27, or a Performance center 327TRR8 - Single action trigger is sweet.

    Worst trigger:
Ruger - Only get if you are shooting high power reloads. Built like a tank and drives like a tank.

I want one of these without the scope and crap all over it.

    S&W Performance Center Model 327 TRR8 Revolver

i already have one and wouldn't need to buy one. j/k.
it's not my combat gun but it makes more snese to me: you don't have to change your/my grip to open the cylinder; good sights, red ramp/white outline; good single/double trigger w/o work; 7 shot capability!

My vote would be a Smith 27 or 28. And if I would look for one with a less than great finish if I wanted to save some cash.

    S&W 686 followed by the 649

    BTW. the 629 is a 44mag not a 357.

I've got two stainless Ruger Security Six revolvers that are pretty nice but I favor this 586 S&W.
My friend's boy calls it my Sissy Gun.
