Are canned biscuits a good substitute for scratch made dumplings?

I use them when I'm too lazy to make "real" dumplings and I think they are a fair substitute.

just made some tonight using the bisquik recipe. followed the instructions and the dumplings came out doughy in the middle. i guess they'll have to cook longer than the 20 minutes as instructed. overall its still good stuff tho.
