Looking to get a G40 MOS. Spend time kayaking in the flats on Texas coast. Will need a chest holster as it will allow me to paddle the yak, fish, etc. Not expecting trouble, but being prepared is always good.

Need some suggestions for chest holsters for the 6" Glock I am considering. Thanks in advance.

You definitely need to look into and consider the guides choice chest holster from Diamond D Custom Leather. I personally wouldn’t like a piece of hard Kydex on my chest all day long but that’s just me.

Hill People Gear chest rig. Will fit the G40 along with other items, IFAK, etc. A little slower to draw than standard chest holster, but is effective with a few repetitions/practice. Also allows pistol to be concealed. I like mine. Good luck

My kydex rig(s) are waterproof, wear them whenever I need to outside or under a coat, never uncomfortable to me.

Diamond D if you want leather, Kenai if you want Kydex.
For your application, I'd go with the Kenai.
Those are the two main players in chest rigs.

I would not go with a pouch solution, that will fill with water.
I would not go with a Kenai knock-off.

My G19 in a kydex IWB holster clips right into that rear pistol pouch. The front pouch is just enough room for other EDC items keys, wallet, phone, spare mag, light.

I’ll second the HPG kit bag. It is the way to go, can also hold other supplies (pliers, first aid, knife, tackle) and is discrete when needed.

Lots of recommendations for the Diamond D Leather Chest rig (Denali). From the same makers, but in nylon (and for 1/2 the price) is available at The Denali Chest Holster I just got one, and am very pleased with it. I recently had hip surgery, and can't comfortably wear a belt yet. This one does not anchor to a belt.

This is what I use for my G40 MOS as well. A great rig.
FWIW, the G40 holster will also fit a G21, and I have another holster shell for my 6" 686 S&W.

I've been rocking a Diamond D Guides Choice with my 6" gp-100 since 2011 price is higher though now but still worth it in my opinion.

If you have an optic on your G40MOS, be aware that the Diamond D will not work the the suppressor sights that are required to clear the vortex razor or Leupold DPP, they are too tall and will snag. If you want to carry a WML on your G40 your only options are Gunfighters Limited Kenai or the HPG Bag.
If you want leather I would also look at Western Images Gunleather. Their chest rig is nice and they ship quick.

I personally don’t want a leather holster exposed to salt water every day,
I primarily use the HPG Bag when I carried mine hunting and riding a four wheeler.

Kenai Chest Holster for my G17. This holster accommodates a LED light as well. Not every light system is available and it take awhile to receive them.

I use both the Denali Chest Holster and the Kenai chest holster. The Kenai is quicker to draw from but the Denali is slower since it has a retention strap however it also seems a little more comfortable.
