I got this together today finally after a long wait for the AA conversion kit. The gun consists of a Gen3 Glock 17 frame that I bought just for this build, an Advantage Arms LE 22 LR Gen3 G17 conversion kit, I installed a Glock OEM "-" connector, and I installed a Carver Custom "BigMouth" Magwell (aluminum). I built the gun for practicing accuracy and since I had the magwell laying around I figured I could use it to practice my reloads as well. Its kind of an out there concept a 22 LR practice gun thats built to simulate a USPSA Limited division pistol but I figured sice all of my other Glocks were modified and "cool looking" this might as well follow suit. Now all it needs is a set of Dawson Precision adjustable sights and it will be good to go. Just wanted to share, I think this is the first Glock/Advantage Arms/Carver Custom hybrid pistol ever built but I could be wrong. (Wait....does that make it a tri-brid or hybrid pistol )

I can see that as being very beneficial for practice if its set up similar to your competition guns.

Add some Crimson Trace grips, a carver mount, a red dot of some sort, and a bayonet and see what kind of attention you gather at the range!

:rofl:Thats OK I think it will get enough attention as it is!!! Not alot of dedicated 22lr Glocks in the world with Carver magwells and trigger jobs. I had actually considered the red-dot but I already have a Ruger racegun (22lr) so it would have been silly to build it that way. And as crazy as it seems I think (as long as it runs decent) it will be an excellent practice tool. Cheap ammo means more rounds downrange!

The AA kit I've used seems to be very ammo picky, its an older kit, but it definitely runs the best on the Remington GB's.

I hve been told that by countless people. Look in the background and you will see I am already shooting the Rem. GB ammo. What do you oil yours with???

I've thought about making my G21 AA Kit into a "22 Race Gun" for my local clubs steel plate and bowling pin match. When I say bowling pin, we cut the tops off the very used pins to shoot .22's at

I've wanted to add a magwell and red dot, but haven't... Right now, I'm just interested in new sights for the kit, probably Heinie.

I am only using this one for practice as it looks right now. I will compete with it if it proves itself to be reliable enough but I will have to put it through its paces before I can make that decision. As for a 22 with red-dot and the rest check out my Ruger Mark III 22/45 Hunter. It has a volquartsen trigger group installed, volquartsen V-comp, volquartsen mount, and a C-More Railway installed. It runs like a champ, its virtually recoiless, and its a tack driver. You may want to consider something along these lines before going through the trouble of building the AA kit into an open division type gun. (I had the same idea at first though!!!)

I have 3,000rds through my kit. I've tried different ammo and the Minimags and Golden Bullets are the best. Golden Bullets have more duds though, but they seem a tad more accurate than the Minimags.

I have four mags and a Primary Arms M3 Aimpoint-type red dot. All I need is a low mount for the optic, an optic mount to the frame, and a mag well. The G21 mag well is huge anyway, I don't really need one.

After 3000 rounds have you had any reliability problems? Any ever?

I bought some of that Remington Ammo you have pictured and it was crap.

Lots of miss fires
Under powered which caused all kinds of problems like failure to feed, extract or eject.

The case rim is out of spec and as a result some of my extractors will not grip it right.

I ended up throwing 1/2 of a box away.

In my G21 kit, I never have had a problem from CCI Minimags. I've got about 800rds of them through. I can't recall any misdeeds or duds. They are just slightly less accurate than Rem GB, but I have more rounds of GB through my kit, so I think I have a better idea where to hold.

Golden Bullets is what I started out with. First couple hundred rounds of them, had many FTFeeds. It got better after the first 525rd brick. Second brick was fairly reliable, but I still had duds. They go off if I load it again. At first, I couldn't get through a 10rd mag, now it's rare to get a stoppage. After my first thousand, I installed a Ghost 3.5# connector. No reliability problems ever attributed to this, just ammo problems.

Lately, had one that took four strikes for one to go. Also, my fourth 525rd brick, I forgot to oil the gun or bring oil to the range, so I ran my kit dry for a few hundred rounds. Lots of double feeds, but that was my fault for not oiling. My kit likes to run wet.

I've also tried Federal bulk, Aguila, Remington Target, standard CCI. The Target's were great, but everything else wasn't as reliable with the kit. I knew some of what I shot wouldn't cycle, but I just wanted to try different ammo and accuracy.

I've shot the kit out to 100yds. Front sight is too wide to reel in where I'm hitting. I can get 10 out of 10 on the 50yd steel plate. At one time, I was shooting shotgun shells at 15yds.

For fun, I shot a quarter at 7rds. I hit it, barely. I'm sure if I used a rest and had better sights, I could get a better hit:

Just got back from the range and the gun ran perfect but only with the Remington ammo. The CCI didn't fair as well, I had to FTE's with it and it didn't group nearly as well either. I was VERY suprised at the accuracy I got from this little set-up though. It rivaled my ruger 22/45 racegun until I started taking shots long range, then, not so much. But the ruger has a dot the AA gun is just standard Glock iron sights.

At first, when I bought my kit, I kicked myself for not buying a 22/45 or MkIII. My kit has impressed me. Plus, extra Glock trigger time is a bonus ;)
