Ok, I know the story on cheap ammo has come up a number of times...but everytime I see the topic I get excited that I can get ammo cheap. However it never works out that way. Does anyone know of a place where you can get NEW (not reloaded) ammo cheaper than Wal-Mart's WWB??? For example I can get 9mm luger, 100 rd, WWB, from Wal-mart for $12 out the door. I can get .40 S&W, 100 rd, WWB, from Wal-Mart for about $16 out the door.

    So according to my calculations:
    9mm luger = $.12 a round
    .40 S&W = .16 a round

Again this is for new ammo. Any places out there sell if for less than this??? Make sure to figure in S&H, taxes, fees, etc.

Also, Where is a good place to get good reloaded stuff cheap?

If you're willing to buy in bulk, there's several online places that are pretty cheap.

Ammoman.com has Federal redbox for $85/500 which is 17cents/round compared to 24cents on the Wal-Mart price you quoted.

The also currently have USGI 9mm at 15cents/round delivered.

cuervo - reread the first post... he quoted 12cents and 16cents a round. Cheaper than what you're finding.

Sorry. I saw the WWB and assumed the standard 50 round box.

Academy regularly has WWB 50rnd boxes for $4.86 + tax ($5.26 walk out in Tx) which is $.105 vs $.12 at Walmart. Academy's aren't bulk either, they're in the foam inserts as well--if that matters.

For a quick trip the rangs, I haven't been able to beat Wallyworld for one stop cheap ammo, but when I have enough time to plan it, I'll buy 9mm from Academy and check ammoman for .40/.45--otherwise it's Wallyworld.

I shoot Igman NATO Surplus 9MM, which I've bought for $85/thousand in 124 FMJ, brass, new in trays in 50 round boxes in sealed plastic bags (5 boxes, for 250) in sealed cardboard boxes (4 bags, for 1000).

I've seen AIM Surplus carry it shipped for $99, and I think SOG had it for $95 a while back. Poke around.

Edit: http://www.southernohiogun.com/ammo2.html $132/1000 in Brass 124 FMJ. A *bit* more than WWB, but c'mon just barely! If you like it hot, this is Hirtenberger +P+ for $.11 a round, and it is NOT the dangerous-in-pistols L7A1 SubGun loads (from what they said a while back) :)

For 9mm, nothing beats the $3.86 a box of CCI Blazer in Acadamy, or the Walmart Winchester white box 115 grain for $10.87 a box of 100 rds!

HOwever, .40 caliber is expensive. the cheapest is the CCI blazer 180 grain from Sportsmansguide for like $6.72 a box of 50 rds ! with the discount coupons and if we buy 1000 rds or more you can pretty much get about $6.72 shipped. Natchezz has the blazer or a Federal independence brand ( I was told it is made by brazililian firm Magtec) 165 grain FMJ for like $6.99 a box plus shipping. Acadamy is selling the Blazer 180 grain for like $9 a box ! ouch! I was sondering why Acadamy can have the cheapest 9mm Blazer but not the .40 caliber!

    My thoughts!

    DaveC!

You can beat WWB ;) $85/1000 is less than $108.70/thou+tax.

Buy some 115gr 9mm Blazer from Nachez in 2000 round quantities. It comes out to under $200 for 2000 rounds since you only pay $5 to ship the second thousand. Can't beat it

My only problem with Nachez is:

Offer not valid in Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama

    sigh.

Yep. That's where I get it.

I just bought a 50 rnd box of WWB .45acp 230gr JHP at Academy for $13 and Walmart sells the same box for $17

But, I've gotten a 100 rnd box of Remington 45acp 230gr JHP at Walmart for $23

You just have to shop around.

This stuff has a little BB in the tip; VERY dirty powder (stinks, too), very inaccurate, IMO, and won't reliably cycle in many guns. I'd not bother. Also, the BB's can ricochet like mad, so be careful where you use them.

My info is from several years back when my uncle had some we tried out, and that crap looked identical to this (same specs, for sure) and I've read the same (even here on Glocktalk) for more recent manufacture.

Didn't sound very good to me either. Was wondering if anyone had heard about or seen it before. Was thinking about grabbing some to waste with my brother's KelTec Sub2000, but I think I'll pass.
