Chase Durer cases other peoples' movements and then puts a 200% markup on them. The guts of the Chase Durer pilot commander are from Citizen/Miyota; I'd say get the Citizen instead.

Citizen and Seiko both make excellent slide-rule quartz chronographs. Orient (owned by Seiko) makes a very nice 7T62-based quartz chrono with slide rule, as well as several automatics if you're into that sort of thing.

Stay away from Chase Durer. Just my opinion but I don't think they make a quality product.

Take a look at the alarm and pusher layout; they're identical. That third hand isn't a GMT hand (like the Chase-Durer makes it seem) it's the alarm setting hand.

Here's an Orient alarm chrono with a proven movement (the Seiko 7T62) and a sapphire crystal, which neither Seiko or Citizen (or Chase Durer for that matter) offer at a decent price. Retail is $350, but pm me and I'll get you a 50% off coupon that should still be good.

EDITED TO ADD: Just realized that the exact same watch in blue face is only $260 MSRP... dang, I might just have to buy one now

Look at the Citizen or Orient, in that order. Yeah, I like Breitlings too but I went through a Citizen Wingman and Citizen Skyhawk before I got my first one.

If you're John Travolta then you gotta go with Breitling pilot watches. :)

-eh- I've found a lot of pilots tend to like Breitlings. Strange how the company based on watches for pilots works like that.

    Orient? :puking:
Yeah, they look nice, but why not just go with a Seiko or Citizen?

John Travolta is practically the spokesman for Breitling, or at least the preferred poster model for Breitling's advertisements.

Kind of like Tony Soprano for Kobold watches.

Dunno. I've never seen him in an advertisement for them and I really like my Breitlings. I can't stand Travolta, though, not since I heard him on the freq for the SCIA:
    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/george.htm

We were a flight of six OH-58s and two or three Blackhawks. This voice comes over while we were about 10-15 miles out for landing. One of the BH guys said in his best Beavis and Butthead voice, "he he he... John Travolta's cool" to which the Leer came back with "This freq is for official use only" That was one of a handful of comms that weekend with a bunch of snippish comments. Turns out the guy's a jerk in person, might have hours but he's a jerk. I cannot even remember what movie it was out there, Faceoff? A hanger blew up in one scene, that's all I remember.

If he's the face of Breitling they're still good watches even if they don't have taste in spokespeople.

From what I understand...Travolta is a bit "over-the-top" in respect to how he portrays his pilot image.

I don't really care if John Travolta is a cool dude in real life or a jerk in real life, do do I care that he's a seasoned superbadass pilot or a wannabe. Though his wife is pretty hot (which teen romance comedy movie was it that was set in the '50s where she flopped some mean flesh?).

I was just making a funny.

Orient is owned by Seiko, and they case Seiko movements in their quartz watches...? What's not to like? The in-house Orient automatic diver movement runs more accurate out of the box than any of my Seiko 7S26's do.

That's another Seiko-owned company, and the guts of that watch are again the reliable old 7T62. If it weren't so ugly that'd be a great deal :)

    I'm a pilot, and I really don't like most of Breitling's designs.

    I wear this instead:

Chase Durer is really starting to make me mad. I called all the 6 listed dealers on their authorized list. 2 dont sell them anymore, 1 closed, 2 have nothing in stock but one claims to have 15. I drive 2 hours to look at the watches. I get there AND THEY ARE ALL FAKE EXCEPT ONE!!! This guy had a store in a really bad neighborhood and was selling fake chase dureres for the price of new ones. They werent even decent replicas. Im really pissed and scared to buy a watch now. I want the Montbrillant Legend but dont want to take a loan on the 7k price tag. Considering the Chronomat. I found one on ebay for 2700 which is not bad but it will prob be fake...

Still cant believe that clown tried to sell me a fake they where so crapy....... Im worried someone will actually have a replica that I cant tell is fake
