I remember thinking the same thing when I watched it. I was surprised the movie wasn't another attempt at cover-up.

No need to forget the history, but everyone involved is now dead. No need to speak evil of the dead, their judgment lies in Other Hands now.

Ted was also witness to his nephew raping that girl in Florida...their lawyers managed to make her out to the bad person....

The movie that came out a couple of years ago was pretty honest. I was surprised the Kennedy's allowed it to be filmed. It made Ted out to be a cowardly louse, more concerned about his career then the girl he managed to kill.

Why not? Should we never speak of John Wilkes Booth, or the unsolved conspiracy to murder President Kennedy, or the numerous murders of enemies of a former secretary of state? Where should it end?

IIRC he was never questioned by authorities. Not only left the scene, but left the area. I font think he ever gave a personal statement to authorities.
    Let a commoner try that..

The body was briefly examined on the scene by the alternate medical examiner, because it was the regular m.e.'s day off. Drowning was assumed because they had just pulled the body out of a submerged car. The Kennedys made sure the body was immediately flown off the island before a more thorough autopsy could be performed. Later when they wanted to exhume the body it was the Kopechne family who opposed it, and a judge in Pennsylvania ruled in their favor.

When Kennedy went back to the party and told two of his friends what happened, they went to the bridge and tried to rescue Mary Jo, but the current was too strong. But the rescue diver could have done it within minutes.

The next morning Kennedy told the police he was the driver.

"Before the young blonde was killed...Kennedy was a shoe-in for the Presidential nomination..."

"...his three older brothers died violently..."

ABC News was covering for the Democrats just like now.

The internet had it existed then would not have been so kind to Kennedy.

Because the LEO spotted the car much later than what fit Kennedy's story this is the most credible theory. It really explains everything. But Kennedy went with his story which included an attempted rescue as his advisors probably thought it better for his political career.

My take on the movie is this...I was surprised it got made, it only stayed in the theaters about a week and NetFlix only carried it for a month or so, unless it's back on there. Hollywood still doesn't want you to see the movie.

The movie did a pretty good job of telling what happened, however, it was a little tepid. Had an episode like happened in some political conservative's life they would have went full bore to make him/her look like a demon.

I've never forgotten her name or the terrible, cold, lonely way that she perished. Ted Kennedy's indifference to her fate says a lot about the kind of man that he was. Let's hope that Ted's eternal life includes something appropriate for what he did. His money means nothing where he is.
