I can't believe the CG forum is for all practical purposes...dead.

Ex RM2 here, Alameda Alpha something-or -other, 1971 anyway. Then RM school at Governor's Island, yeah, Government Island to Governor's Island, but a WORLD apart!

CGRADSTA SFRAN for a short bit, then off to the CGC Rush.

A couple of Ocean Station Novembers, a couple of ALPATs, REFTRA in San Diego and Hono, then CGAS SFRAN until I got out and rejoined the real world.

So, basically, I'm totally obsolete with the Morse code and radio-teletype thing, and the flashing light not so much, too.

Good thing I found a gig with the digital dental equipment biz.

So, what are all y'all up to?

Not dead, just few of us and quietly taking care of business.

I do stop in from time to time.

Papa 93 Cape May, June 1975. How could you forget?

4 years was too much. Patrol for 30 to 90 days, in port for 2 days to two weeks. Repeat. 3 ships (Rush 76 to 77), first ship served in WWII with rats, cockroaches in food, putting people who puked at sea on the bottom bunks, low pay, divorce rate over 70 percent. I don't miss it.

It's not for everyone. I hear you on the living conditions and such. I've got over 10 years sea time and yes spending 3 months away from home stinks, but hey better than a year in the desert. I got 7 more months and then I'm done with 30 years active.

Congrats on the big 30 coming up sir, and thank you for being another proud puddle pirate as "they" call us. They can say all they want but I've got the bumper sticker that says Coasties do it Best.

    I didn't realize there was a CG forum. QM3 Charlie 70 Alameda. 23 June 69 22 June 73. 5 Cutters in 4 years.

    Just for fun...
