Come check out our club for protection sports training:

austinpsa.moonfruit.com

Or our brother club in DFW:

tpsk9.com

PSA home:

www.psak9.org

This is pretty much a plug for our new forming PSA club for Austin. PSA is a dog competition and certification venue for controlled protection with civilian protection dogs.

Dog folks may have heard of Schutzhund, which has been growing in popularity in the US since the 70's.

PSA is intended to be a more practical, street-oriented, and breed-neutral venue. Check out the PSA site for more info.

In a very broad sense I would suggest that PSA is to Schutzhund what IDPA or tactical 3-gun matches are to IPSC.

Our club is for people in the area who want to get together to work on dog training to title dogs in sports such as PSA or Mondio Ring. Or just have a genuine interest in responsible protection training.

Cool. I wouldn't mind doing PSA, but I've got enough to learn about schutzhund. Don't wanna confuse the dog, as you know. And his handler (namely, Me.) is confused enough already. I've met a few of TPS's members. Our SchH club rents the Man's Best friend training facility on Thursday nights. I met 5 or 6 of their members there.
