Kerry Washington, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Gabrielle Union wore “Trayvon” sweatshirts before their red carpet attire on Sunday.

Sunday was the biggest day of the year in Hollywood, but it wasn’t all about the glitz and glamour associated with the Academy Awards. It was also the five-year anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death and it didn’t go unmentioned by Kerry Washington, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gabrielle Union, and some of the other big stars.

Prior to getting Oscar glam, these women — as well as director Ava DuVernay, who was a nominee last night — dressed themselves down in gray hooded sweatshirts, with the name “Trayvon” on the front, and shared the shots on social media. Of course, the hoodies were similar to what the 17-year-old high schooler was wearing when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla., in 2012. The photos the women shared were pretty powerful.

    these people are ignorant

Celebrities admire someone that uses force to get what they do by subterfuge.

I guess that means Bill Cosby is now a superhero to the black community.

All they do is glorify Thugs, Thief's, Rapists, Robbers, etc.......

So much stupid, so little time. I am disappointed they didn't also raise their hands and chant "hands up, don't shoot!" to complete the picture of complete idiocy.

    What a bunch of ignorance.

At least the comments on the article are indicating that most people get how stupid this is.

Certainly not the first time some public figure(s) have honored or paid tribute to someone involved in criminal actions.

Gets some public attention (press attention) at the same time, too.

Ah, yes. One of the original "Black Lies Matter" prevarications. Poor lil' Tray-tray was an innocent snowflake, brutally murdered by a "white hispanic" while minding his own business. What a crock.

Justice was excellently served by his legitimate removal from the ecosystem.

Evidently, America is responding to all the Hollywood nonsense by tuning out the Academy Awards in record numbers...

Trayvon got what was due him for his actions. When he attacked George Zimmerman, well, the ending was unexpected for the attacker. I wish sometimes that those liberal fools had been attacked by Trayvon, and we could see how many hits to he concrete their heads could take.

One thing I did get out of the Trayvon incident was that those who say a 9mm is nothing, well ask Trayvon what he thinks on that subject.

Those hollywood idiots embarrass themselves every time they open their mouths. The vast majority of them have just a basic high school education but they talk as if they have a PhD. Many have great acting skills but know very little about the real world. They live and work in a fake world where they try to be someone they aren't. Only the brain dead followers of these people believe what they say.

Yup...I liked what Dinesh D'Souza said on Facebook: The point isn't that Meryl Streep is "overrated," the point is that playing smart and complex characters doesn't make you smart or complex.

Like the characters they play and films they direct or produce - it's all fiction.

There was a news story of a policeman that got into a fight just like the Zimmerman case, where he was down and the criminal on top of him was hitting his head on the pavement.

Only the cop didn't pull his pistol........The aggressor killed him. This is the alternative ending to the Zimmerman case that no one admits to.

How long ago was it when TM was shot? They're still milking that event for all it's worth. That's sad and amazing. GZ was found not guilty. Pathetic garbage like them need to move on or, at the very least, find a new shtick.
