i found an HP cd writer plus in an old machine that a friend gave to me. what program should i use to burn backup discs and music cd's? i have an older factory installed cd player in my van and it will play most burned cd's i've recieved from friends.
is there a certain format that the discs are burned in?

Most any program will work fine. Nero is pretty popular and works well. Most programs will automatically convert the songs to correct format. You just have to make sure the songs are converted to wavs instead of mp3s before they are atually burned. Like I said - most software nowadays does that automatically. If you have XP, you can just use windows! Simply right-click the songs and click "send to disk".

I prefer to use Nero myself.
