Last night I get a call to the park and ride bus stop at the edge of town for a fight involving several people, one of whom has a gun. I'm first on scene and spot a matching description walking away from the area at a trot. I stop him at gunpoint while other units locate the other involved parties. He's pocket carrying an S&W .40 and a spare mag on a valid CCW permit. HE proceeds to say that these four juveniles had started "jumping" him and when he got hit he pulled his gun and said "whats up now?" thereby scaring them off. The other side of the story sort of matches, except of course in the juveniles version the CCWer hit first, then pulled the gun when they were defending THEIRselves. So we're thinking a bunch of nonsense pretty much, and then dispatch comes back that the CCWer is wanted out of a neighboring agency for assault and terroristic threats. So in short, I arrested the CCWer for the warrants and applied to have his permit revoked. At the very least his gun will be in the system for quite awhile before he can get it back. So, fellow JBT's...how'd I do? Am I a credit to the gun confiscating profession? Did I properly violate the second amendment here? Should I have just assumed he was good to go since he had a CCW and kicked him loose without hesitation? Inquiring minds want to know (somewhere I'm sure).
