How do you guys handle it when you are in a store, you have your CCW, and :wow: nature starts to call. Do you just unholster it lay it on your leg? I have been trying to figure out what I would do, and can't think of anything better than that. Maybe take the whole holster off?

Depends, sometimes I just leave it holstered and drop my pants, othertimes I unholster and lay it inside my pants. Depends on where I am, the amount of gap under the stall dividers, ect. Just dont lay it on the toilet tank, there was a guy here that done that with his Wilson 1911, forgot about it, and didnt miss it untill he was undressing that night. He had reward adds in the local papers and everything, I dont think he got it back.

I usually rebuckle the belt so it hangs holstered off my knees.

Really? Have you actually tried to do this and just couldn't figure it out?

Just fold the gun into the inside as you lower your pants. With it now tucked inside and upside down--it won't be visible.
Or, You can just lower it and leave it where it lands and then just pull the underwear over it if you want more coverage.

Put it in the crotch of your pants and cover with underwear if needed. One way or another you won't forget it.

This topic comes up every so-often.

I usually just don't let my pants all the way to the floor. Keep 'em just below the knee, and, if necessary, unholster and place the pistol in a safe place where you won't forget it.

    TACTICAL POTTY TRAINING 101:

    Leave firearm holstered.

    Leave holster attached to belt/pants.

Unfasten pants and lower pants, underwear and holstered firearm to the knees.
    Refasten pants at the knees.

Firearm will stay secured in holster and high enough that it cannot be seen under the stall walls.

When business is done, unfasten pants, pull up pants(firearm still secured in holster)and refasten pants.

Firearm remains secured in holster the entire time. There is no danger of ND, dropping it or leaving it in stall for someone else to find.

This method works with OWB and/or IWB holsters.

Practice at home is permissable and recommended.

I usually take it out and set it on the TP dispenser (if there is one). I am smart enough not to leave a loaded handgun in a public bathroom so that is a non-issue for me. If there is not a suitable TP dispenser, I lay it inside my pants. I try not to drop any dueces in public for this reason among many others, but it always seems I never have to go until I am in the far end of Target or some other place when my guts start boiling!

Only problem with re buckling around knees is sometimes you have to take off the belt to develop some torque.

I don't mean to make a big stink about this; hopefully you'll be relieved and maybe even flushed with excitement to learn that this has been discussed before.

Enough stalling, I'll dump the links here:

Concealed Carry in a public restroom

    concealed carry and public restrooms

What do you do in bathroom with IWB carry?

Carrying and going to bathroom in Public???

    An Indelicate Question

If you have a laptop this could be sufficient for several visits' worth of bathroom reading. It's a lot of material to digest.

I have Comp-Tac CTAC IWB that I wear 95% of the time and in the rare occasion that nature calls to the sitting position while in public, the trousers drop and the leather attachments between the holster and the belt clips allow the whole gun, holster and all, to nicely fold forward rest in my trousers.

It really works quite well and the way the the holster folds into the pants when lowered is almost by design. Could not ask for a better solution.

Now - when using a Smartcarry while needing to use the urinal in public - that is a whole new challenge. I either find a stall or use the "family" bathroom where I can close the door. I really do plan ahead and minimize any beverages before strapping that thing on.

In any case - I have learned the trick to using the public restroom while carrying is NOT to wait til your ready to bust! You may not know exactly what the restroom accomodations are and you may have to wait "for the right opportunity" to take care of business while discreetly dealing with your firearm. Once you reach that point of no return - bad things can happen in so many ways :whistling:
