It has to be in the county you live in, only 1 county; and do some research on what county's will most likely give you one. I know Kern county is a little iffy...

I wish you the best of luck in So. Calif. The chances of getting a CCW is just about next to nil.

You'll have to present a good reason for wanting a CCW, such as you carry large sums of money or valueables during your work, you've been threatened (and it has to be a REAL threat), you work in law enforcement, etc. Self-protection is not a valid reason. (Yeah, I know. Go figure!).

If you're still planning on trying to get a CCW, proof of prior firearms training would be helpful (and no, we're not talking about basic training at the local gun shop, I'm talking about a well known, established school or instructor that teaches all aspects of the use of deadly force and proper handgun handling like LFI, Front Sight, Thunder Ranch, Gunsite etc.).

A well known character witness may also be of help (local politician, law enforcement officer of staff ranking like LT, Capt., Chief etc., a VERY WELL KNOWN and rich business person, etc.).

Don't be too disappointed if/when you go and apply to your locak police department/sheriff's department that they take your money, have you under-go Live-Scan fingerprinting (more money) and a background check (more money) just to be told that you don't qualify for a CCW.

I sure hope things work out for you. Good Luck.

It really depends on what county you live in.

Some counties are very liberal in issueing CCW permits and some counties will not issue CCW permits.

Again, head over to http://calccw.com for more specific info.

If you live in a city, (it looks like you might be in Corona)you must go to the Chief of Police in that city for a permit. If you live in a county area or a city patrolled by the Sheriff, you go to Riverside S.O. I don't know about corona but the Sheriff isn't too bad about issuing permits.

If you are in an area patrolled by the Sheriff, contact the Sheriff's Dept.

That's not necessarily true. I live in a city w/ its own PD, but I obtained my CCW through OC Sheriff.

Unloaded, in a locked gun case, and separate from any ammo.

I'd recommend looking up a guy named "Greg Block". I've taken his courses and they are great. I haven't taken his CCW course, but he's a great guy. Check him out and ask away.
