Sound off who has taken the plunge and did this? How long did it take from application to Active status on ISP website? Me 31 days total just waiting on USPS.

I haven't "pulled the trigger" yet so to speak.

I'm considering it but hate all the bs hoops they make one jump through to "earn" the right. Back when I did a lot of traveling into Chicago's south side & Gary, IN on business I carried carried regardless, for years. You know the old adage, "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6".

I understand that. But I have been waiting all year and finally got the extra money and time just took it. Went to the Gun Dr. I'm Roselle the instructors are great!

Thanks for the FYI. A friend & neighbor has talked about getting his CCL & has asked me before about going together. There's a place about a 10-minute drive from us which offers classes. Might have to talk to him again about it. :)

I did. I think it took about 105 days, give or take a couple days. No prints

I've been carrying since and my wife does as well. It's definitely a big responsibility, but is also a great comfort.

    Do it!

Took the classes last fall. Submitted the application on whatever the first possible date was. Submitted fingerprints as well. Got the permit about 45 days later.

Mine took 100 days to go active and then it was 3 days to get the license in the mail.

Talking to a friend that works for a large shop. A lot of people seem to be waiting to let the rush run it's course. Also there don't seem to be as many people applying for the CCL as the ISP originaly thought.

The rush is over. Trainers were initially raping people for $300 or more for the 16 hours. Not uncommon now to see them for $100 as guys are just trying to fill seats.

Here, here I couldn't agree more when I was looking to take a class I could not believe what people were charging. Nothing wrong with making a living but jeez! So much for the whole firearms community I keep hearing about. Glad I only had to do 8 hours

Yea I think the numbers are not as high as the state thought they would be and I hope the fee goes down even though I have gotten mine.

I doubt the fee will go down but, I hope so; this is Illinois after all. I just hope they do some housekeeping legislation. The number of restricted area where you can't carry is ridiculous.

Sad thing is that given the number of hours that IL requires, that more states don't recognize our permits......but it would help a hell of a lot if IL was a bit friendlier towards other states also !
Mine didn't take long at all, but then, i'm an instructor & HAD to have it to hold my instructor's credentials :(

And you're right, a lot of guys WERE gouging customers....but many of those outfits seem to have shut down already.

No, not yet. I was crazy busy wrapping up the last few months of the year for my company & moving my mil into an assisted-living place by my wife & me. After I get some breathing room I'll revisit it. Thanks for the reminder, tho.
