CCI Blazer Brass 9mm 115 FMJ - ammunition quality?

I've shot a lot of this stuff in the past, but about a month ago I finally picked up a couple hundred more rounds. The bullets compared to "pre Covid-19" have definitely changed. Before they looked like a normal FMJ, now they appear plated... at least to me. Has anyone else noticed this? They don't appear to be a particulary well made bullet, maybe imported?

I haven't shot any of it yet, but the quality... at least by appearance has taken a hit, even at twice the price it used to be.

Blazer 9MM Brass I have never had a problem with in any gun including the Ruger Carbine. I had a box of aluminum Blazer that malfunctioned in a CZ P-01, believe it or not. Same thing when I tried it in a SA Hellcat. Could have been just a bad lot, but I haven't bought any since.

I don't know how many thousand rounds of Blazer Brass in 9mm that me, my son and friends have shot through my various handguns, but it's been a bunch. For range ammo it's one of my favorites as it's affordable and has always given decent results. Repeat that it has been affordable, which is the reason I bought my first thousand rounds of it years ago.

All mine date from pre-pandemic times as I had loaded up on ammo Big Time before the 2016 election which I expected the ugly hag to win. She didn't, so I have enough 9mm of various brands to last a good while.

My neighbor goes shooting with me most range trips and has recently bought several hundred rounds of Blazer Brass locally and ordered another thousand through SGAmmo. His looks and shoots the same as my pre-pandemic rounds, so not sure what is off about your own.

For what it's worth, if I put a Blazer Brass round down beside a round of some of my other affordable range ammo brands like Sellier & Bellot and ask a shooter to pick one based on looks alone I'm certain most would pick the S&B round. It simply looks better. But in my own hands the performance on target is about the same or only marginally better than Blazer Brass. Not enough to matter for range ammo. I don't reload 9mm so can't opine on the brass for home loads. At this time Blazer Brass and S&B are exactly the same price per thousand at SGAmmo.

Hope the Blazer Brass shoots well for you since you've invested in a couple hundred of them.

I am not anticipating any problems with the ammo, it's just something I noticed. As a "responsible consumer" I like to know what I'm getting. Nothing "wrong" with plated bullets either, but if I can get jacketed for the same price or close, I'll take jacketed.

I can’t comment on the brass but the 115 gr aluminum case is outstanding. Probably the cleanest 9mm I’ve shot in the past few years and have relaibly run >4k through my guns without issue.

I bought a case of 124 Blazer Brass as it shoots pretty nice groups in my G34. Then a week or so later I won a 1/2 case of 115 In a raffle. The 115 shoots well in my G47 so I’m good for a little while anyway and I can take a break from the loading bench.
