Wow, they just aired a reasoned mildly pro-gun piece by Ben Stein.

He pointed out small town Idaho has lots of guns and no gun crimes. Said if some crazy were to start shooting, some good man or woman carrying a gun would probably take the crazy out. Said the last Idaho gun shootings of note were done by the FBI shooting people at Ruby Ridge.

Pointed out that Chicago, with strict gun control, has lots of shootings.

Said if you outlaw guns, only criminals will have guns.

Cool. Wonder if it will be linked online later? Then we can drive the hits up so they can ignore them all at CBS.

Is it just me, or do these two statements actually make sense?
    :dunno:

No, no, no... I know that, I mean the two statements that actually make sense also actually came from a CBS affiliate. :faint:

Anybody else see this? It is actually a pretty good show. But the subject of guns doesn't usually come up on it.

I watched and Ben Stein quite often has a fairly conservative commentary. I thought it was great he didn't get off message and closed the deal with the end comments.

I was pleasantly surprised by his commentary this morning. I was really not expecting a pro-gun stance from him.

    Same here.

I was sort of amazed CBS aired it though. CBS must have thought everybody was still sleeping Sunday morning away.

Wasnt Stein an advisor to Nixon or some other republican president? Of course, he is spot on. Will any of the anti idiots listen though?

He was a speech writer for Nixon, and later Ford. He was originally suspected of being Deep Throat (no, not that one; the other one).

His father, Herb Stein, was the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers to Nixon and Ford.

The issue that no one wants to address is not "gun control" but rather "culture control."

He (Ben Stein) is usually pretty good but he has voiced support for things like the government's TARP bailout of Wall St. and more recently higher taxes on the wealthy as a solution to our nation's economic woes.

I would be interested in seeing his thoughts behind both of those issues. He is a pretty smart guy.
