My new CBOB arrived the other day, and I got out to the range to day for it's first run.

250 malf-free rounds down range, 200 WWB and 50 T-Series (my preferred carry ammo). Like this pistol a LOT!

I do have a question about replacement sights, though. It has the standard Trij night sights, and I hate them. I prefer Meprolight-type sights with the white outline around the tritium. I just cant see the Trijs with the chrome ring in bright light.

What night sights to you CBOB folks recommend that I can install without a lot of hassle (a dremel jockey, I ain't!)? I'm assuming the cuts are Novak.

Just an aside, I found the thumb safety to be very sharp along the top edge, and especially at the rear. Was quite irritating when doing speed drills from the holster. Anyone else experience this with the CBOB?

Also ordered an Ed Brown checkered MSH. The stock smooth one isn't going to cut it for me.

10-8 (or no dot rear) and tritium front.
Shouldn't need to see the dots in bright light.

Good question, are they Novak cuts? I am not a fan of the stock front either.

you might want to check on the front sight cut. i thought that i read somewhere that it's the Springfield cut and not the standard Novak.

SO i wasn't imagining things. the front sight cut is the Springfield cut.

Novak's front sight cut is .330"x.075"x65
You can get the correct sight's that you need from Kensight/Champion. they make sights for a lot of 1911 manufacturer's including Ed Brown and Les Baer.

Thanks for the info, folks. I kinda figured that since the sights appear to be same ones that came on the Loaded I just sold, that the front probably wasn't Novak-cut....ain't nothing ever easy.

I am glad you asked! Do you also find your front site also to a little dim in comparison to the rear?

    P.S. Thanks Quack!

Trijocon makes the inserts. I'll have to look at pics, but I think the Cbob sights are champion/kensight sights. The offer them with and w/o the white ring. Ed Brown uses the Champion sights with a white ring.

    Thanks, Quack.

The second one is what I'd like, or just a plain black rear with a white-ringed tritium front. I looked at Kensight, but no pics of their front sight, and they're made for a .330"x 65° x .070 dovetail. The only front I saw for Wesson is a plain serrated. I didn't see that second one on the site for Dan Wessons...just adjustables.

I guess a phone call is in order.

I might just send the friggin' slide to Wayne and let him deal with it.

i have a rear sight off my EB that is just sitting in my parts box if you are interested.
it should be the correct sight height for the CBOB, then you would just need a front sight.

Great. Thanks, Quack. Mighty kind of you. If I find a front sight I want, I may just take you up on that.

just thought of something else...if you like your sights, and want a white ring around them, try giving tooltech a call. it might be cost effective if your tritium is still in good shape.

I like the Heinie "straight 8" concept. They'd get my money if I was buying.

My "if it aint broke" mentality won't let me spend the money to swap out functional nights sights though. If it didn't have night sights, sure...but I can buy a lot of reloading components for $125ish

Thanks, Quack. All they list for Wesson is revos, but definitely worth a call.
