I went in just now and checked on the kitten. It had drank about half the KMR and is asleep. This is a good sign, as usually if they are a goner, they quit eating. I think it likes being safe here. Where it was, a predator could have got it.

I'll try and get the kitten to the vet tomorrow. My Woody and Hannah were about this sick when I rescued them and our vet saved them.

Brandi is making some progress on her own! (step away from the light!). Oral ulcer must have popped. She spent a lot of time getting cheek and jaw rubs. She ate half a jar of baby food without a flinch. I had a mobile vet ready for an emergency lancing, but Brandi seems to have taken it on herself. More food, and off to vet first thing tomorrow for antibiotics .

A relief to see her eat without pain. She is a real PUSHYcat. Heaven is not ready for Brandi!

I went in to check on the kitters to see how they were getting along and I couldn't find silvie.
Eventually found her in this cat bed that no one ever uses. I think she found her spot.

I was going to reply to the thread about what great life lessons you've learned, but this story really belongs here.

I had a cat that I had traveled with cross country and was a huge part of my life for many years. We went camping and fishing together. I couldn't ripen an avacado or a cantaloupe around him...He loved them. When he got sick I treated him with "thousand year old duck eggs" and herbs.

I've never been closer with a cat. His name was Pancho. When he was little he'd want me to hold him, and would climb me like a tree. When I finally go him to stop that, he just started throwing himself up at me to catch him. He'd have me catch him jumping off a roof or the fireplace mantle or just anywhere. All my t-shirts had claw holes on the shoulders.

He made sure to never jump on request so I could show off. He'd just look at me like I was a pathetic clown begging him to jump in front of friends.

He eventually got really sick with a URI and already had some kidney issues so I was taking him to the vet, but I didn't think he'd be coming home again.

As I was driving towards the freeway exit to the vet, I saw a car broke down on the shoulder and saw the driver walking to the next exit.

The driver was a Franciscan Friar...brown robes and white rope belt...there was a monastery in the Oakland hills. At 65 mph I was too far past him to stop and back up so I took that exit and backtracked to the previous entrance and came back for him.

When he got in I told him I'd give him a ride to a payphone or back home but that I'd backtracked because I had a really sick cat on the way to the vet and I wanted him to bless Cat Pancho.

I told him Francis was the name I took at Confirmation when I was 12 and that Pancho is actually the diminutive of Francis.

So my life lesson is...when you're on the way to the vet with a sick cat, stop for the Franciscan Friar. He's got car trouble and his day is messed up, but he'll bless your beloved cat seriously and not think you're a butthead for not helping him fix his car in the middle of the freeway.

And woe be unto the cat that takes her spot. greensupergrin.gif
    Great news. Heaven can wait.

I went in a checked and I think the kitten is a boy. He had eaten some of the turkey and knocked over his water. I washed his face and eyes and dug the crud out of his nose. He can breathe through his nose now. I had taken him out of the kennel (too small for a litter box) to show him where the litter box was. I put him in and dug a hole with my fingers to give him the idea.
He jumped out and went and peed under the bed. Oh well, there is a learning curve.

Yes. We moved up to Washington State. He got to hang out on the beach at the Ocean before the crows went nuts about a cat on their beach.

He died in my arms at another vet's office many years later.

He went to Canada too. We used to go for walks together.

And of course he punished me for going out of town and hated the cat sitter guy. I used to call home and talk to the answer phone so he'd know what was happening.

He'd jump on the desk to get his phone call. If the catsitter guy picked up the call I could hear the cat howling at him. I adored that cat.

Thanks! She learned her name fast too. You can be outside, call her name and she will quickly be in the window. Took the Sammy pic two weeks ago, the Tosh pic today.

If my new kitten is a boy, would it be OK to name him Pancho?

If it's a girl, the feminine is Pancha.
