I posted this in the newly create bayou forum and almost nobody had any experiences to post about.

Anybody have a Catahoula hound? any pointers on picking a good dog? what are any of it genetic flaws? and how good are they in learning and training?

I found one of these as 6month old in local shelter. The dog is a healthy male that was abandon into the shelter care due to the family moving back to Chile. I'm thinking about getting.

    noway,
I have only had experience with 2 of them but they are great dogs. Pick one that is very confident and almost bold and you should be good to go.
Also, they can be very stubborn but are also very smart... If things don't make sense to them, there is no talking them into it.;)
    Good luck with your purchase.

The neighbor who lived behind me when I was in High school had one of these dogs. He was extremely smart and agile. They used him as a herding dog.
