My sister has a kitten that has taken to eating everything it can get its teeth on. gloves, rice crispy treats (and the wrapper it came in),anything left out or that is in the process of being cooked. He will jump on the counter, stove ,table, even in the kitchen sink to eat things (not just food items). The biggest problem is the jumping on the stove, counters and table. Of course any thing that falls on the floor is fair game but he took a peice of toast off the counter when my nephew went to get the butter and will climb in the babys high chair and eat the food off the tray before the baby can be put in the playpen. Other than this the cat is good with the kids and is very playful/affectionate. I have just never had this type of problem with a cat before I have suggested "spring type" mouse traps under newspaper as a shock tactic and a spray bottle or shaker can. Other than making the cat an outside cat (not a good idea due to the cyotie ect in the area) what can be done. They are on the brink with this cat and have considered having it put down. I hate to see a nice cat be put down if it can be trained to avoid this behavior.
