Going on a tip from Captain Obvious, either way the election goes, things are going to get even more violent. Trying to make a decision on how to carry shells outside a home defense scenario.

I'm thinking of a bandolier or an over the shoulder bag for carrying ammo, any suggestions, pros, cons, etc?

Bandolier always makes a statement. 'We don't need no stinking badges' comes to mind.

I use a bag on a belt when I shoot sporting clays. Should be available at cabellas or berettausa.com. When I go bird hunting, I've tried the loops that hold the shells on my vest. A bag or pocket is much easier.

I have one of these. Easy access to loose shells. Google "shotgun shell pouch".

I use shotgun cards. Bonus for being able to keep spares in AR mag pouches or on the Velcro mount. (not my photo)

I may have taken a Carbine course with just double belt pouch, spare in back pocket. Next one a full vest. If I thought it was serious I would want soft armor incorporated in.

I have one of those Maxpedition bags. I often wondered what the fuzzy velcro on the outside flap was for, then I figured it out. you stick your spare ammo cards to it. My spare ammo bag is getting kinda heavy though.

I never thought about having to use my 870P in a fight, but there is just no telling how ugly things might become. I did some looking and some head scratching, and found this ammo pouch. Did a little switching around with the straps on the back, and once I get some stitch work done to reinforce what I converted into belt loops, I believe I will have found my answer. Looks like it should hold two rows of 3 cards each. That should give me 36 rounds of LE 132 00, plus a full card on the receiver. I bought a Bianchi duty belt to carry this ammo pouch, a sidearm, etc. I looked far and wide for some Esstac cards, but struck out. But I did find Browncoat Tactical's shell card offering, and read some good reviews on them. So I bought a few.

My 870 has six in it and six on it, thats 12 rounds of 12 guage.

What kind of fighting do you guys think you're going to be doing? If you expect to be fighting the hordes, you need to move. Seriously think about this for a second. The violence you're seeing play out in these riots is in small pockets of liberal cities and is actually being well controlled. Violence isn't spilling over into normal America.

Look out your windows. If you don't see graffiti near you, you're safe.

Do you only carry 12 rounds in your pistol or AR? The OP stated "outside a home defense scenario".

I for one am not sure what to expect, depending on how the election turns out. It's not just the flash in the pan right before and after the election, but also what would be the long-term consequences. If the enemies gain enough control, they could very easily turn the USA into another third world nation. And that's exactly what they intend.

    God help us.

No, and there's a good reason why, and that should be self-evident.

Shotgun shells are much larger and heavier than 5.56 or 9mm.
