    AZ man arrested after gun goes off at Walmart
    <!-- -->
    Associated Press - April 8, 2010 8:34 PM ET

    PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Surprise man has been arrested on suspicion of endangerment when the gun he was carrying discharged inside a Walmart in El Mirage.

    El Mirage police say 30-year-old David Walter entered the store around 1 a.m. Thursday and witnesses say he repeatedly fidgeted with a holstered semi-automatic pistol.

    When he went to a counter to pay for a video game, witnesses say Walter removed the gun from the holster - causing the magazine to come loose and fall to the floor. They say Walter reinserted the magazine and continued manipulating the gun when it fired, sending one bullet into the ceiling.

    Police say no injuries were reported. Walter was booked into the downtown Phoenix jail on six counts of endangerment and firing a weapon in city limits.

    So does AZ require training for a CCW, or no?

    I need to know so I know whether I should argue that training ought to be absolutely necessary to prevent things like this, or if I should argue that training is useless because it obviously doesn't work, because people, like horses, can be led to water, but cannot be made to think.

    At this point in time (4/8/10), obtaining a CCW permit does require eight hours of class / range / qualification shooting time. Most of this is class time.

    Retard. Hope he gets nailed to the wall, he deserves it.

    I'm a serious OC advocate, and do so often. However, witnessing him fidgeting with the gun would have sent up red flags in my head and I'd have probably called the cops.

    Keep your gun holstered at all times and keep your hands off of it! If you need to touch it constantly to keep it in place then you need a better carry rig.

    I didn't catch it from the article, is it possible that Mr. Walter is a cop?

    Just wondering, since TBO posted the story and he is always highlighting notable LEO actions around the country.

    I'm sure if he was a cop it would have been mentioned numerous times in the article. I wonder if his mom knew he left the basement at that hour to buy a new video game. On second thought. I'm sure she did. She probably gave him the money.

    My thoughts exactly, he definetly seemed to be walking a fine line between run of the mill idiot and threat. On second thought, maybe they are one in the same.

    jeez dude get with the program. He obviously was not a cop he got arrested!! You are not suggesting that cops would arrest another cop for something like this are you?

    If he had been a cop they would have just let him go and said he had fired a warning shot to alert the receipt checkers he was leaving and they better not try and check his receipt!

    :rofl::rofl:

    I'm surprised they didn't call the police before the gun went off. I'd never unholster in a public area.

    I bet the guy mentioned in the article wishes he would have read the belt threads here on GT.

    Still an idiot though.. if the gun is THAT uncomfortable, go to the bathroom and see what the problem is.
