I have carried Hydra Shoks for several years now in my G26. After reading a lot of posts I was thinking about switching over to Speer Gold Dots. My question is, should I go with the Short Barrel 9mm +P or the regular 9mm 124 grain gold dot? Thanks in advance!!

The GD is a big step up over the Hydra. Through informal water jug expansion tests the Hydra-shok has a pretty bad failure rate. I think the Short barrel +P's have some advantages. If you can find them.

In my G26 I carry the regular 124+p gold dot's, everything else I carry Federal HST's.

Whichever one you shoot better. I like them both.

Stick with what you have and can get. dont get too excited over little details of internet commandos as one round may expand an itty bitty bit more then the next. Whatever?

Use Good quality ammo. and practice with what you have.

If not, either will work fine. And I agree w/the other posters that the Gold Dots will be a big 'Hello' over what you're used to in the Hydrashocks.

I think short barrel would be ideal, but both will work
