Trump announces capture of five 'most wanted' ISIS terrorists - including top aide to 'caliphate' leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - who were lured from Syria to Iraq with fake Telegram app messages

five of the 'Most Wanted leaders of ISIS' have been captured after they were lured from Syria to Iraq with fake Telegram messages.

Iraqi officials used the cell phone of already captured ISIS lieutenant Ismail al-Eithawi to send instructions via the app for the four other leaders to come to Iraq, where they were seized.

The encrypted app was officially named by ISIS as one of its favored mobile messaging services in 2015 and has been regularly used by the terror group for private communication and to spread propaganda.

Al-Eithawi, who also uses the alias Abu Zaid al-Iraqi, was captured in February by Turkish intelligence and handed over to the Iraqis.
The operation to snare the four was carried out in cooperation with U.S. forces, part of an American-led coalition fighting against Islamic State on both sides of the Iraqi-Syrian border.

Following Eithawi's capture, Iraqi and American intelligence agents were able to uncover bank accounts used by the group and also secret communication codes he used.

    Why does this get announced?
Imo all tactics should be secret until it’s over.
    But what do I know?

I would save any outrage for the dumbasses using any electronic app for covert ops.

That is basically reality. One day I was on a humanitarian assistance mission to a kuchi village. Kind of nomadic, Bedouin type people of Afghanistan. This place is a collection of makeshift tents . . . I was writing a description, when I realized I have pictures:

When a guy comes out of one of those tents that seem to be mainly constructed of trash and whipped out his cell phone. I think this is the guy - probably talking about that awesome dust devil right in front of him.

My first thought was, "how the F... does he charge that thing?"

Who released the information about how they were captured? The headline sort of makes it sound like president Trump did it but his tweet only says they were captured. Releasing the method of luring them in was stupid.

    Commence with the water boarding!

Or have a chapter of the Hell’s Angels come in with the offer of free beer and crank in return for information.

    Either way.

People are going to be resourceful. My guess would be that these folks have a few inverters and generators laying around.
In the 1960's t.v. show Combat, you would occasionally see a car with a water heater mounted on the roof. All us kids were like WTF. My dad said it was an improvised wood still. He'd seen them during the war. They made their fuel as they went. Some smart engineer type designs it and then within months, even lowus IQus, Ugh the caveman has a working version of it that he traded a goat and some home made wine for.
Nice canvas on those tents by the way.
When we were kids, we took a large scale cargo parachute, spread it out, anchored the edges and then stuck a swamp cooler under a lip and turned it on. We had this instant dome house that beat the crud out of any refrigerator box fort that we had ever seen. It would be the envy of any nomadic village.
