Up until now, I've been using a Dazzle Fusion to capture video to my hard drive which connects via USB and leaves much to be desired. It can only capture at a max resolution of 320x240 and even at such a small resolution, video is blocky.

I'm looking to purchase something internal and wanted some recommendations. I want something affordable and the Osprey 100 looks promising, but this review says that it tends to drop a lot of frames.

I'm looking for a card that:
    • Captures at 640 x 480 (at least)
    • Captures at 30 fps
    • Doesn't drop a ton of frames

I realize that you get what you pay for, so what's a cost window on what I'm looking for? And what specific products can you recommend?

Any opinions on the Videum AV that is compared to the Osprey 100 in the review?

I don't need a capture card with audio capabilities, just video.

    Thanks!

I have been using the osprey 100 for years now.
Just make sure your PC is up to date ( processor intensive) and it will work fine.

I bought Dazzle with VERY poor results, dropped frames like crazy, etc.

I borrowed a card from a friend and have ZERO dropped frames and all around good capture.
I'm sorry I don't know the brand name but I don't think it wasn't too expensive.

BTW, I'm using Pinnacle Studio 8 with good results except it will only burn about 3 gig on the 4.7 gig DVD disks at the best quality.
(about 3/8 of the disk is not used).

Anyhow there is no comparison between Dazzle and an internal card.

    Osprey,
They have a nice selection of video cards for what you need.

I just bought this one. I'm going to use it to transfer some old laser disc movies to DVD. I'll let you know how it works!
