I am creeping up on my next purchase and have 3 guns I plan on adding to my collection but can't decide on which one to buy first. I am debating on a Smith and Wesson M&P, Springfield XD or XDS, and an HK. All would be full size and either 9mm or .45acp. What are peoples opinions good and bad? I have an M&P shield 9mm and it's a pretty good shooter, but have never shot an HK or XD/XDS. Again, I plan on adding ALL of those to my collection at some point, but am having a hard time deciding on which one first. Thanks everyone!!

Do you have a nice pocket revolver like the Smith & Wesson Airweight 442....
Everyone needs a good snubby in their collection....
I like the Springfield XD or XDS....They feel good in the hand to me....

I do not have a pocket revolver yet. I currently have 2 revolvers. A ruger GP100 with the...6 inch barrel...? And a smith and Wesson 500mag with the 8inch barrel.

I recently rented and shot a full size M&P and it was a very nice shooter.

Loved the Shields I once owned.

    New M&P 2.0 fantastic trigger!
XDs great pistol with a very aggressive grip texture, albeit a good shooter.

HK VP9 is worth a good long look.
    Great ergonomics and amazing trigger!

How about a rifle? I just purchased a Mossberg MVP patrol in 5.56, nice shtf gun.
Great shooting package for the money.

I have always heard good things about HK's, but never personally known anyone that has shot or owned one.

I would like another rifle as well. I just know if I get another rifle I'll start looking into optics for it and then something else on top of that.... Just trying to keep the cost to the firearm itself.

Same cost as about a G19 and it does not need optics. AR mags and 5.56, Just throwing it out there.

Interesting.... I will definitely have to look into one of those. I don't know much about them.

XDs is not a full size pistol. Xd and XDm are full size, though. I had one a while back, and while it's a good pistol, the bore axis is pretty high in relation to the grip, causing muzzle jump. Don't know about the HK, but of the pistols you mention, I'd go with the Smith. I hear the trigger on the 2.0 models is a vast improvement.

Bottom line is, they're all good, and it's hard to make a mistake with any of them.

I didn't know about the bore axis on the XD's that's good to know. Thanks. Maybe I'll see if the wife will let me buy all 3 with our tax return. That way I don't have to decide and I'll get 3 new toys!

From your list I'd go with the HK in 9mm.

.45 is too slow for my liking. That being said I'd mix it up with something else. For example a metal framed SigSauer P229 or a 10mm striker.

New S&W M&P 2.0 gets my vote. I love my older version and going to add a 2.0 in the immediate future.

I have a full sized M&P. I prefer a 6:00 hold to hit, but my M&P is set up that I have to cover the target with the front blade to hit. I haven't had the time to change the front sight yet, but I will switch to Tritium.

My full size and sheild 9mm's are sighted the same way by actually holding where you want impact, in which, I prefer. Different strokes for different fokes

    Good luck with your purchase.

I'd choose the Springfield XD myself. However, don't let $$ burn a hole in your pocket. Save it and Wait till there is No Question as to what you Really want. Then you'll just go get it without question :)

When I decided it was a Tavor I wanted, there was NO QUESTION about it. Just the hard part, finding a "Lefty" because I have no choice but to shoot left handed & NO way to "learn to shoot righty". Found my gun and LOVE it! Glad its an original and NOT one of the new X-95's that they "Americanized" and IMO went downhill.

45 acp. to slow? Maximum self defense distance is like 21 feet so just how long would it take that big 230 gr. bullet to find it's target ?

That new M&P M2.0 gets my vote too. There's a lot to like about it.
