Ok... so I'm posting this here because I figure the responses will be more impartial given that this is a Glock forum and the next gun I'm considering is now a pocket gun (smaller than the 26/27/33).

I've narrowed it down to 2 guns... well, maybe open to other suggestions, but so far the two I'm considering:

    Ruger LCP
    Sig P238

The Ruger is, well, a great deal for the money. It's accurate, small, and durable. It's approximately $350.

The Sig is another level of gun. My trouble is this... is it worth paying $180 more for the Sig? The reasons I think it may be worth it:

    1) I'd actually enjoy shooting it as opposed to a chore to shoot like the Ruger or Keltec type pocket guns that are just for protection and minimal practice.
    2) You get what you pay for. I almost never regret paying the extra money for quality like that.
    3) The almost 1911 style trigger and gun is appealing.

    thoughts?

I'm leaning towards the Sig at this point.

    Others I've sort of considered:

The Taurus TCP (supposed to be a decent gun actually)
Walther PPK - just the appeal of it... always liked
    Keltec
Kahr - same money as the Sig and I like the Sig better.

I have been debating between the LCP and the P238 as well. I have been leaning more towards the Sig. It feels better in all aspects. I love the idea of a "mini 1911", I am a little leery however of cocked and locked in a pocket gun but I think ill soon get over that. FWIW, I am a huge fan of Ruger but the Sig wins hands down here for its quality.

no experience with the dig, however my LCP has been dead reliable through 200 rounds and is so small that I haven't left the house without it ONCE since getting it 8 or 9 months ago.

the LCP is dead simple — no controls aside from the slide lock and mag release. just point and shoot.

and you should be able to find one for ~300. Maybe even lower.

actually if you're considering the Sig, you might just step it up to a Khar and get into 9mm territory.

Sig seems to be going downhill in my opinion.

    Go for the Ruger.

Actually, I just read the last post and I agree with it.
Kahr makes a great weapon but I'm not exactly sure about the prices.
I would go with Ruger unless a Kahr is within your price range.

    EDIT-
Sorry, my mistake. I didn't read your entire post either.
I kinda jumped the gun in replying on this one.

    Definitely go with the Kahr.

Another vote for the Sig. It's a slick little pistol!

If you like the Sig then get it. You will never regret buying a Sig product. if you want more power check out the Kahr though. I love all my Kahr pistols. I carry my PM40 daily and it disappears.

Another vote for Kahr. I just bought my wife a CW-9, what a great carry gun. But to each his own.

Yes. Not even a close call. Heck, I'd choose the Kel Tec over the Ruger any day.

I would choose a piece of poo on a stick over a Kel-Tec, but I agree that the Sig is definitely in a different class than the Ruger and well worth the extra dough. :)

id go with the LCP but only because of the $$ difference..I had a Colt Mustang II(basically the same as the Sig) and it was a great gun..but id not have paid 200 more for it than the LCP just not THAT much better, Im looking at a .380 also for around the house on days off carry im debating between the Ruger and the Taurus(and no I have no problems with Taurus have had several and never a problem and know no one thats ever had one either)

For all the Kahr guys... is the Kahr really a "pocket" gun?
They don't seem that much smaller than the G26/27/33. Are they?

Depends on which Kahr. The .380 is downright tiny, the T9 is big(ger). None are gigantic, (most) are thinner than Glocks, and especially the PM and MK's are meant for optimum concealment.

    I'd get a Kahr, pack a 9mm, and leave the .380 idea.

Sigs are fine guns as well though.

In other words you've never had one in your hand?

    http://www.mouseguns.com/PocketAutoComparison.pdf

    Sig P238
    Length: 5.5"
    Height: 3.9"
    Width: 1.1"
    Weight (Loaded): 19 oz.

    Kahr PM9
    Length: 5.6"
    Height: 4.3"
    Width: 1.1"
    Weight (Loaded): 20 oz

Kahrs are surprisingly slim pistols. Find a place that carries them and feel one up, it is an enlightening experience.

IMHO, the Kahr PM45 is a pocket pistol.

A shooting buddy bought the Sig on the same day I picked up an LCP. After cleaning and prepping them both, off to the range we went. Both of us were impressed with how well the Sig shoots. We both shot groups that were half the size of the LCP's at various distances. However, the Sig had a few failures to eject, while the LCP ran perfectly. The LCP continues to be more reliable. Carry-wise, the LCP is the clear winner. Its smaller and easier to conceal. Personally, I would be happy to own either pistol. My experience with Kahr was less than impressive, and I'll never pay their premium again. Other brands offer spotty quality for less money.

I would avoid the Sig. It may say "SigSauer" on the side, but it has none of that delicious German made reliability that we have all come to miss. The monkeys up in Exeter, NH dreamed that one up.

If you have money to spend, look into the Rorbaugh pistol. Also don't forget there is the Micro Desert Eagle. I have no experience with any other than my cousins kel-tec p3at. Seemed like a decent gun (and I'm not fond of kel-tecs). It'd work in a pinch, and could go anywhere.

Pocket guns aren't my thing; one day, I'll buy one, however.
