I just told my kids one of my favorite things to do as a kid was to buy candy cigerettes...they freaked out, WHAT!!?? Yeh they were great fun, who else enjoyed candy cigerettes, sittin' in front of the general store, drinking a "bottle" of coke. :)

I did, but my mom hated them. She would lecture us when we bought them. Too bad I hate cigarretes...

I remember them, never bought them. I did however enjoy my share of "candy beer", just pour a cream soda into a pint glass. My dad got pretty mad when he saw me drinking one, until I said, "Taste it" it sure looks just like a cheap beer.

A number of years ago in this here jurisdiction.

They stopped putting the red dye on the end and sold them as candy sticks.

Have not seen them for a long time.

I remember those. I liked the big league chew. The shreaded bubblegum that came in a bag just like chewing tobbacco, that was good stuff! They even made a dip can with a roll of gum. I guess that is not P.C. now.

Yup, I enjoyed 'em too. I recall 1 end was red to emulate being lit. I also recall they were Winstons!

Today there would be terrible consequences, lawsuits, and generally lots of offended bozos.

Yes, Winstons is what I recall. I can still remember their unique taste. They were yummy! :)

Oh! edited to add that I remember bubble gum cigars. Particularly the green ones. Very sugary and delicious! ;f

I remember candy cigarettes... you could still get them as late as the early 90's. The coolest ones were the bubble gum ones wrapped in paper with powdered sugar between the paper and the tube of gum. Blowing through it caused puffs of "smoke" to come out.

Its ironic... I had tons of candy cigarettes as a kid, and went through pouches of big league chew like nothing... but as an adult I think cigarettes are trashy, and chewing tobacco is even worse... so that just shoots a whole in the theory, doesn't it? ;b

I've seen the candy cigarettes in some grocery stores recently, just not as commonplace as they used to be.
