A very dear friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer. To make a long story short she has been supporting both her mom and herself since her father died a year ago. Due to this she has no more savings left and has moved into a one bedroom apartment. This combined with the less then stellar insurance through her work, it will be some time before she can have the surgery.

I can not sit by and watch this happen to a friend. My question is; How do I go about setting up a charitable fund?

Has anyone had experience with running these funds, and are there any other cancer resources I could contact for help.

    Thank you

Came across this site a little while ago for a different charity. Sorry to hear about your friend. Best of luck.

    Thank you,
I have also just found everribbon.com as well, looks like a similar deal.

Anyone else have any advice, it would help a lot.

Go talk to your local bank. The manager will know all the legalities in your state.

I can't help you with the charitible fund, but I second looking at the resources listed here, and searching online for any charity that might pay for that surgery and follow-up treatment. She needs to get the tumor removed before it has a chance to spread if she's going to have a good chance to beat the cancer.

    She's in my prayers.
