Can You Wear Out a Glock's Frame Rails?

If I shoot hundreds of thousands of rounds, is it possible to wear out a Glock's frame rails, where the slide goes, to such degree that they are no longer able to be used and the frame is now a gonner? Or perhaps the rails even crack?

The reason there are so many "torture tests" out there, is people get bored or tired (or ^^^financially stressed) by trying to wear it out by actually shooting it normally.
So they come up with all these "torture tests" just to try to accelerate the process - like dropping it out of a plane, soaking it in salt water, or shooting at it with another gun, or blowing it up.

Eventually you will replace the gun because you just got bored with it. There is no way you will wear it out by normal use.

(BTW the plating wearing off the slide rails does not mean it has worn out). Yes wear marks are an indication of use, and normal.

A weak recoil spring will cause the slide to slam back in the frame and can cause micro-cracks in the frame rails. Once they have started they can only get worse. It takes a looooong time, but it does happen. Eventually the frame loses its rigidity and the action gets sloppy. This can lead to failures to load and also kills accuracy. There are no reliable or cost effective repairs - replacement is the only viable option.

That's scary.

All mechanical things will wear out, so of course it is possible.

But Chuck Taylor wrote an article about his Glock 17 with over 365,000 rounds through it and it hadn't worn out a frame rail yet. If my $400-500 gun fires 365,000 rounds I'm going to consider that I have gotten far more than my money's worth.

Are you actually going to shoot hundreds of thousands of rounds?

There have been examples (rare examples) of brand new Glocks that bit the dust at just a few hundred rounds, from entirely unrelated events.

This is not even a worthwhile or even realistic thing to be concerned or worried about.

My gen2 G-23 is still going strong and is still my daily carry. As far as that goes my gen2 G-19 is still doing fine, I have not done the six-part upgrade on her so she does not get carried anymore.
A G-43X has taken her place when I want to carry something slimmer.
I now have a G-45 to carry if I want more rounds, 17 in mag one in the pipe.
If you can't make it with 18, go to the range and seek help.

This. And don't forget that many of the torture tests are to get clicks. Some tests are reasonable and interesting i.e. will the pistol work it you drop it in the water/sand/mud? Some are simply stupid i.e. what happen when I throw the gun against a metal post repeatedly or shoot it with a shotgun.
