I'd let her do me, as long as she let me do her first.

She reminds me of the smart girl on Baywatch. ;)

That movie is a total hoot if you guys have not seen it, constantly poking fun at the TV series. Every other scene was someone saying, hey let's call the cops - we're just lifeguards right? That Rock fellow is genuinely funny.

One thing I know about hospitals, they are as dirty as a bar restroom at closing time.

Stay away if you want to live.

I am an RN. I will never wear white...you don't want to see what gets on me...trust me. Thankfully, my hospital is too cheap to buy our scrubs, so I wear whatever color I feel like. If you are my patient, you will know me and we will work together....get "lippy" or cranky with me over B.S...and "doctor will be in tomorrow"...is all you will hear over your call light ringing. Fact.

I have had wonderful nurses. (Ok a couple bad ones but rare).
I go back to HCMC for tests. I go to cafeteria which is near "my" floor.

Nurses, Dr.s stop by my table. Stop me in halls. "How are you doing? Going to stop by floor?"
And too dang many. "I should know you....."
They can make being in the hospital...bearable.

I do hate the (mostly non functional intercom). I hit call button as Dr. Requested I not transfer without help day of surgery... "#}%%#{|need?" Me " I need assistance to get to bathroom". Response "&[email protected]€£<%# ". I wait 5 minutes, hit call again. Finally just get up and go. About then a nurse comes in. "We couldn't understand you"
After late surgery. NPO from midnight, pushed back to 3 pm, back to room @7pm. They nuke a "lean Cuisine" rice thing. I choke. Seems throat not working. My water empty.... Call button, repeated. (I could breath just not great). Finally "little help please"
3 nurses in seconds. Got a drink, apologized but they said any dificulty no problem. They were just do shocked to hear a call for help (even that mild) from me.
That floor had some special needs janitorial folks. They did a dang good job. Things were cleaned IMO well. Fresh water each room, wipe down table, rails, disinfect bathroom...

My mother was an ER and burn ward nurse in the 1950's and '60's. All of her friends were immigrants from anywhere from Sweden to Greece. My mother gave up on life at some point and her friends helped raise me.

They ALL scared the crap out of me. They also seemed a little "off" to me, even from a young person's point of view.

They all agreed that cleanliness was declining in the hospitals they worked in. Most disliked the colored uniforms since they reflected this trend. Personally, I don't like the "so you can't see the dirt" orientation.

The elimination of nursing uniforms is a reflection of society and the change in dress codes in almost all professions.

When you watch old film clips it is as if we were a different species.

If the nurse doesn't have a hat on, you don't have to do what she says.

Those uniforms are just NOT practical for their work. Lifting patients, bodily fluids etc. With scrubs they can go to their locker and its a quick change. Just the same for us old cops. Fancy formal uniforms with pins and stupid hats dont belong when you are doing K-9 tracks through creeks or brush, Crawling through glass piles to make entry in freshly broken into businesses, fighting and so on. Or directing traffic on a 100 degree day.

Many of the floor nurses I see wear black. How depressing. I do see other nurses wearing other colors. As a volunteer, I never thought to ask. Check out their shoes. They look very uncomfortable, but they tell me they are not. My mother was a nurse in the ole days. White hat, shoes etc. I remember her polishing her shoes, dabbing with liquid polish at night. Always crispy looking.

The last time I was in an ER, a very attractive nurse came in to take my vitals. She was wearing purple scrubs that were loose fitting and when she bent over gravity took over revealing what was underneath and my old red blooded male horn-dog eyes naturally dropped to see what was underneath. When I looked back up, she was looking me dead in the eyes and I’m sure I was blushing cause I knew I was caught. The next time she came in, there was a big safety pin holding her top together.

I’m glad I never need to go past the ER.

I just had hip replacement surgery. 20190812_134837.jpg
I learned that bribery works great if you're a patient.
I kept bags of M&Ms and cookies next to my bed to give ANYBODY who helped me.
I even took a baggie filled with homemade cookies to the nurses station when I could walk.
