I've had the same thought many times Brasso. It probably wouldn't make much difference as it would still contain the same dynamics.
I'm sure there are forums where atheists are bounced as soon as they become known. If you want not to be challenged on your beliefs my advice is to go there.
If you're here you know that we are too.
If they did, nobody would bother looking.
Did Jesus give up and say, "Can we just end the charade and make this the Roman lands?"
Oh, right, you don't believe in our lord and savior. Heathen.
The forum will be what people make it. If you make worthwhile contributions, that will shape the meaningfulness of the forum.
If you need something like a "Pray for me" section, I expect the atheists would respectfully stay away.
Please try and refrain from using respectfully and atheist in the same sentence. I have yet to see it here. If you doubt go back and read the trash talk. They don't know the meaning of the work respect. However they have ridicule down to a "T"..
Pot, meet Kettle.
Good point, Brasso, me ? I'll just shake the dust off my shoes and move on.
The Christian evangelist Ray Comfort contends that atheists hate God because they know he does exist.
Comfort declared in 2009: "Atheists don't hate fairies, leprauchans or unicorns because they don't exist. It is impossible to hate something that doesn't exist. And that makes the point."
"Religious Issues" don't go away. Mainly because religious people won't stop trying to impose on everyone else.
People tend to talk about these "religious issues".
The forum is spattered with them if you don't have a section to put them.
The owner(s) of this forum decided to make an area for them so they wouldn't be interjected in various places throughout the forum.
People who tend to have the biggest "issues" with religion are those who do not follow those religions.
Atheists, obviously, take issue with being told what they should believe.
Therefore, a "religious issues" forum is going to have a lot of people who have "issues" with "religion".
The nice thing about having religious issues consolidated in one area is that others who don't want to participate can just avoid that area.
Then "The Christian evangelist Ray Comfort" is either stupid or a liar because atheists don't hate "God" so there is no validity to the rest of his claim.
You can keep thinking atheists hate "God" and I can maintain that you hate the Tooth Fairy. No value in lies.
No, my point is that there is no longer any way to have a religious discussion. It's not about having my views challenged. It's about not being able to discuss a religious issue without being immediately bombarded with "God isn't real" posts.
Basically, you guys are trolling every thread.
The inverse is "Christian Forum" which this isn't. "Religious Issues" are often going to be reduced to a position that is based on the premise that the God, of the person proposing a position, is real so it should not be surprising that a conversation ends up there. Even if there were no atheists on this forum and it was composed of only Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, etc... the "religious issue" would be reduced the validity of a directive from a deity that someone else does not feel is real.
It's really not that difficult to grasp.
Well, atheism is a "religious issue" so why would you need to rename the forum? How about we add up all of the anti-atheist threads - yours being the latest example - and call it the "Anti-Atheism Forum"?
You get no respect here, because you don't give any. You've been abrasive from your very first post in the forum.
Except we don't hate god for exactly the same reason we don't hate fairies, leprachauns, or unicorns. Because none of those things exist. What we have is an issue with people that tell use that they know what we should do because they alone know what god wants for us. We'd have the same issue with someone that told us that he alone knew what the leprechauns wanted for us.
Atheism is a religion. It is a belief in nothing. Atheists have faith that nothing exists. As a result Atheists become as militant about defending their own religion and destroying other religions to justify their own beliefs. Some Christians do it, some Muslims do it, so its natural that Atheists are going to become militant as well.
My only point in this is that it doesn't matter if you worship yourself, God, or the flying spaghetti monster, it is a religion, and as a result belongs in Religious Issues.
