Can the gen 4 barrels be polished like the old gen 3 barrels to a mirror finish, because i tried it and had no luck. I'm just wondering did i do it wrong or it can't be done?

You don't have the patience for this job. Or you're doing it wrong.

If you would would like to redeem yourself, keep polishing.

I saw one that was polished to a nickel finish somewhere on this sight. I think the guy is a jeweler.

Glock barrel polishing used to be a lot easier, the older Glock barrels had a black finish that was pretty easy to remove. The newer barrels have a gray coating that's incredibly durable. The old black barrels have a pentagon symbol on them, the new gray coated barrels have a "dotted pentagon" symbol on them.

I've never done it, I'm just stating how much more durable the new gray barrel finish is.

Is there a tactical benefit for the barrel polishing?

It looks bad *** but does it make the gun function better???

IMHO with the new grey coating, the feed ramp is much much smoother than the old bluing that is on the older barrels, so if polishing helps out anything it's not much on the Gen4 barrels. It's just more of a look preference. Glock nailed the new bluing right on the head. Just my 2 cents.
