I posted this over in the optics forum, but not sure where it really belongs. I am looking to put a dedicated light on my 556 and saw this when ordering the mount. Thoughts?

I recognize the EOTech Sight, but I meant the flashlight mounted to the front. I did not think EOTech made lights.

Nice looking setup. I still run fixed sights on my ar and 556 for now.

Oh, I thought you meant the optic. I'm not sure on the light.

The mount is a viking tactical (I think). The light itself looks ridiculous and I wouldn't recommend it because of the massive amount of weight it would add to a weight sensitive area of the gun.

Also, when you say "556" I'm going to assume you're talking about a Sig 556 (maybe an STG-556, but they're less common). Putting any extra weight on the end of a Sig 556 makes the gun that much more unwieldy.

Why not get the SIG STL 100? I have a couple, and they work great (2 x CR123, 100 lumens, with belt pouch AND gun mount).

    Pics/review later...

Yes - sig556 swat and it is just like the rest of them, front end heavy. However, i am setting it up for home defense and i always like to have lights on them.

If its a Pentagon light good luck ever getting parts for it. The company went out of business last year or was it the year before?

5.56 for home defense? Poor choice if you ask me but I guess you didn't. 12 Gauge with 0 buck for me. Reliable, easier to aim, and one shot stop. Also, won't go so far through walls.

Have an 870 setup similarly. It does not hurt to have options, especially if you are setting up more then one room in the house. Not to mention an excuse to outfit it.

That light isn't even made by SIG they just took a mediocre Chinese light and rebranded it.

I use #2 high brass hard shot. If you connect with that a doctor is going to have hamburger to try to fix, where with 00 you only got 9 pellets. If you are in apartment or close to a neighbor.....I am neither so it is 357 SIG and 223 with hollow points, hit a wall and their gone. Another mag has 855s. That light makes that gun look silly. I trust sig products though a lot around here do not. :whistling:
