I could have sworn I saw that guy in a cartoon before..... If I can think of it I'll let you know what cartoon it was.
Some type of Mantis perhaps?
Looks like one of our smaller skeeters down here.
Looks like a mosquito of some sort to me. How big are those tubes it's sitting on?
That............is 100% without a doubt a robber fly. Dont let it bite you its extremely painful.
It might be some sort of Robber Fly
Damn youngdocglock beat me to it...
Pretty small, as I believe they are bottles of nail polish....
yeah, they are bottles of nail polish. I'm not sure I'd say small though, that thing looked like it was gonna eat us!!!
It is a robber fly with out a doubt. Nasty littler suckers they are. Very painful bite and the pain says for a while. Squash it. Squash its children. Take out the whole family then send the rest of the relatives photos.
We saw it the other night at the store. I've never seen (or heard) of anything like it before! It flew off right after we snapped this or i'd have gotten a better pic. Had i been videotaping it, you would have heard my daughter and I screaming like...well...girls.
your lucky you didnt get bit. I've been bit. Hurt like i had been stabbed with a rusted fork.for a good 3-4 hours, then split open like a pussing mess afterwards, took a week to heal up.
I may wait a bit to tell my daughter. Like a decade or so...
If ya see one again, just smash it with a flip flop. or kill it with fire. that always works well :-D
or get one of these!
i had one of those, it was kind of disappointing. Maybe i"ll start carrying a small flame thrower. I wonder if they are new to the area, i've honestly never seen such a thing.
Seriously Big Hair spray.+ Bic Lighter. = more than capable flame thrower :-D
It's a Robber Fly.
Don't attempt to befriend, capture or reason with Robber Flies as they cannot be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with.
Some bugs just want to watch the world burn...burn this one first by killing it with fire.
I don't know where your area is, but it can stay there or go back where it came from, so long as its not my area.
I'll be the first to add the obligatory "Nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure" comment.
Maybe drop a Bravia on it since it has jacked up teef.
