I have read some of the threads about 1911 projects. I was wondering if a colt cco / kimber compact type of pistol can be assembled locally. I was thinking about an officer frame and commander slide from armscor.

    What say you?

Kaya yan, dito pa. Problema mo lang siguro is finding an officer frame, sa Shooters (SAM) baka meron.

You can get a local frame easily, imported ones are also available. Twin Pines has both Caspian and Korean (Ironsides) Officers frames AND slides available.

aside from the shorter grip for easier concealment, what are the advantages of the CCO? what is the rational behind making a hybrid of the officer's and commander's model?

The commander gives you a longer slide so the bullet only loses an inches' worth of velocity, compared to the officer's 3 inch barrel which makes the bullet lose more speed.

Also the longer slide makes hitting your target easier.

    Let me be Kaiser's parrot

commander slide = reliable vs. officer slide
= can clear the holster faster vs. the govt. slide

    officer frame = concealability

overall = thin, lighter than cmdr./govt. and well it is still a 1911

I guess that this can be done but where does the bottom grip screw go? I'm not sure if this will work...

I'd go for the ready made officer's frame if ever.

    hmmm....good point, KS.

i guess the gunsmith would have to weld in a new grip screw.
