Allrighty, just wondering what you all have for camp guns!

    Mine are:

    Ruger Mini 14

    Ruger 10/22 with a 4x scope

    Ruger MkII- sick right now!

My dad also has an SKS for a camp gun.

I would like to get a pistol calibered carbine someday. Either a PC40(converted to glock mags), a camp 9 or maybe even a Marlin .357 levergun.

    What do you guys have?

A .22 mag. It'll do it all if a guy can shoot.

What's your definition of a "Camp Gun".

I've taken just about every firearm I own out to camp at one time or another.

I have several that fit the bill. When we are camping in an area where others may also be camping I usually carry a Snakecharmer .410 and a Glock 26.

If out in the boonies, camping and hunting, I will have a Winchester .357 lever-action, a Marlin .22 lever-action, or my newest addition, a Keltec Sub2000 9mm carbine. Oh, and a G26 or a G-30.

I mean what do you take with you most often when you go hunting or camping that is not your hunting rifle or shotgun?

What ends up behind the back seat of the truck the most?

This summer I took my Puma 92 carbine lever action in .454 Casull/ .45 Colt. Versatile, yet very powerful. ;f

For years it was my .54 caliber Pioneer rifle from Traditions. It is a very nice percussion rifle, very accurrate with patched ball and 80gr of Goex ffg. Good with Maxi-Balls too. Then my CVA Hawkens .54 percussion rifle, then my Lyman Great Plains rifle which was a .50 caliber flintlock with 1/66 twist rifling for really good accuracy with patched ball.

I also have a "Canoe Gun", its a beat up old .50 caliber Hawken Woodsman percussion rifle that I picked up in a pawnshop for just under $100. It too has a 1/66" rifling twist which is a factory option. It has OK accurracy with patched ball out too 100yds as I can put the shots in minute of deer at that distance.
I call it my "Canoe Gun" because its cheap enough that I shant miss it if the canoe should tip over.

I usually wear my two reproduction Colt 1860 Army .44 percussion revolvers on the belt when out in the woods.

Eh, thats a bit bigger question than you realize...

It depends on where I am going. If I am camping out in my Uncles game reserve up in Northern Saschatchewon (Ok, somebody tell me how to spell that correctly...)(its in Canada) my campgun that goes on teh racks of the 4-wheeler or in the seat of the truck would be a Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 Government. Its massive amounts of knockdown power is good insurance against all teh bears up there, black bears mostly, but there are a few grizzlys. Also, up north (from Colorado up basically) I usually carry a S&W 629 .44 Mag, its a good gun.

A gun that is ALWAYS in my truck and that I use for pretty much everything else besides Canada is a Ruger Mini-14 and a Remington 870, those two are always in my truck.

The Glock 31 and 17 usually attend me everywhere else.

Whats nice about all these guns is that they are known not really for their accuracy, but for their rugged reliability. No matter what, they will work. (except my Marlin, if I get mud in that gun it doesnt want to cycle until I strip it and clean it. Which kinda sucks when your fishing and a big momma moose is heading your direction...) ;P

Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70 if I don't need to hide it.

3" 629 in .44 Magnum if I do need to hide it.

My camp gun(s) are usually just that. Camp only guns. If I'm on a hunting trip, then I'll use one of my fine rifles that I'm hunting with as the same camp gun. Not including a handgun that I always have on me.

So, for basic camping and not hunting, I'll choose one of the following as a camp rifle:

    Mini-14
    Mini-30
    Marlin .30-30
    Winchester .30-30 lever action
    Winchester .357 lever action carbine
    Winchester .22mag lever action
    870 either my 12, 20 or 28 ga.
    SKS

I rarely bring out my nice rifles for regular camping trips ie:

    Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster AR-15 variants
    M1-A variants
    Armalite AR-10(T)
    Hk91
    FN/FAL
    Armalite .50BMG
    and various bolt actions...

For general knock around guns, I'll choose from the first list.

I used to have an SKS as a camp gun but sold it to get a Maadi AK. Now I use my Kimber 1911 or one of my Glocks which compliments my 18" 870 police or 18" 870 Wingmaster folder which compliments my Maadi. Man, I miss camping already...

Accurized Tanker Garand in .308, because it is meant for things other than getting food, although it will do that in an emergency. And my gov't tells me those AR's are too powerful for us taxpayers. ;c
