CALNRA: AB 362 Amended to Require a License to Purchase Ammo
    1:30 PM, 7/3/2007 - PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY

AB362 has been amended to not only require Ammo Sales Registration but ALSO now requires a New Handgun Ammunition Purchase Permit that must be renewed every 5 years.

The application process costs $35 and will take a month to complete, meaning your first box of ammo under this law could involve a 30-day waiting period. Your name is then added to a DOJ database which is checked whenever you purchase ammo. Of course, DOJ may revoke the permit at anytime. Please contact the committee and urge a NO vote on AB 362.

    Also, please note:

    - Federal law requiring ammunition purchasers to present I.D. was repealed by the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986 because it was found to be ineffective in reducing crime.

    - Rand Study On Ammo Sales Confirms Ammo Sales Records Useless

There are well organized anti gun groups roaming around the country suggesting this crap to city councils and state governments. Its all pretty sick.

They realized that banning guns was not getting traction. They've switched now to the ammo and noise like theft and loss reporting and microstamping.

The NRA has a full time lobbyist in Sacramento and really on top of this in CA. I'm working for them by distributing these alerts. E-mailing really does help. The problem is so few gun owners will take the time.
