The TSRA's latest journal/newsletter has an excellent column by Alice Tripp who is the legislative coordinator (lobbyist). In it she urges effective action by cditizens. In it she comments that emails have almost no effect because of their casual nature. She states that a simple phone call is MUCH more effective. She says that a brief snail mail note is by far the MOST effective method to influence them. Her suggestion is that a very brief note is sufficient. No long letter is required. "INVEST IN A STAMP" is her recommendation. These bi-monthly updates are reason enough to justify the modest $25/year annual membership. They really do a lot for us in Texas. This is their link: http://tsra.com/?p=page&id=60 Even if you can't join now, their website has a lot of info and legislative updates. Even non-members can also subscribe to their online legislative updates and action alerts. BY THE WAY, in the latest article she hints that she expects some legislative action to rein in the knucklehed DA's (like Rosenthal in Harris County) and other prosecutors who have chosen to ignore the new traveling presumptions enacted in the last legislature. HOORAY!!
