I say make sure they have to put up a wall that they pay for in order to secede. And... of course let all our 2A friends immigrate during the transition period.

This would be a wonderful thing. Not only would it ensure we never have to deal with another liberal Democrat Gob-of-Spit as President of the United States, we wouldn't have to listen to all of the Hollywood elite telling the rest of America how to think, how to vote and how to snort cocaine.

Pull all the federal spending, federal jobs, military bases and their associated spending and let's see how the "#6 economy in the world" goes.

It won't happen but if it did there would be some issues. Most of the counties are not ultra liberal. Some of them would want to be part of other states or form their own state. Where would they get their water from? The U.S. would have no obligation to send them a drop. They get enough water from out of state for it to be a problem if the flow stops.

What is funny there has been a movement to create the state of Jefferson in Northern California for years . This would be a strong constitutionally aligned state . This has always been met with laughs and chuckles by the liberal south and Bay Area . Now the shoe is on the other foot they scream like little girls . After living in California for all of my life nothing surprises me

We purchase a lost of power from Canada, Winnipeg i believe. This is not like water, it can be brought in from just about anywhere.

While highly unlikely, I would welcome this move.

1 - As many have said it would mean little chance of a Dem president for a long time.

2 - Take Hollywood with you.

3 - I would like to see how California works or does not. I suspect that open immigration, massive handouts, gun prohibition, etc will make a nation that would collapse like a tiny black hole.

But I do not know. I would seriously welcome the chance for the liberals to have everything they want...somewhere else. I honestly would like to watch and see what happens. Maybe they are right and I am wrong? Maybe it would flourish.

If they left, any bets on how long it would be before they become the state of Northern Mexico? Seems like every protest out that way has a Mexican flag hanging beside the upside down US one...

Somehow, I don't see Trump being like Lincoln, "Stay in the Union or we'll kill you..."

Liberal tears. We'll get them to pay for the second wall!

    Maybe Mexico will reclaim them.

When the Central Texas Wildfires hit Bastrop Texas, there were firefighting crews from California working the fires alongside everyone else here. I won't complain about the firefighters from that otherwise screwed up state.
Other than that, while getting rid of them sounds great on the surface, if it actually happened, we would be sending truck loads of relief money to them within two years. I really do not think that state is self reliant enough to survive on their own.
