Is there any way to purge old links from yahoo, google, etc? Like if I change my website and rename a file.

i believe google has an email address you can use to submit pages you want removed from their directory; however, they shouldn't last more than a couple of months. I'd just wait until they crawl your site a few more times.

How long have the pages been renamed?

What would worry me the most is outside links coming in to those pages. You may want to put up temporary redirect pages in their place.

My response was to not worry about it. It's only been changed for a couple of days, and like you say it'll work itself out. I have a worrywart coworker, though... ;)
