I just got a coupon in the mail stating the above - I get to buy like an employee - good through the 2nd. No specific discount is mentioned. Did a Google search and came up with very little - could be a sliding scale of what 'cost' is and / or if the item is a close out / discontinued.

I'm guessing others have them. Anyone know the real story?

Any Cabela's employees on the sight (I'm guessing yes!).

I'm about to buy more reloading supplies Monday - worth the trip? Y? N?? :dunno:

With the discount you should be able to get a CMMG Ar15 for about $2300.

Not all gun shops/stores give the same employee discounts. Some will let employees buy at cost as a added benefit (I doubt Cabela's does this) and some like at a range I shot at get 10% (I know a few people that work there) and 10% off a Glock 19 that is at $650 makes it $585. They get better deals at other shops then they do where they work. WTF

Maybe call down there and ask about something you are looking at, who knows it might be worth it or they could be so busy they dont answer.

Yeah, it's going to have to be a decent discount to get me in the door. They are close enough on many primers, powders and bullets that it could work but my regular reloading supply shop is 5 miles away.

I do swoop in on Cabela's when they put up a loss leader to get you in the door. I'll buy that, hit the register and that's it. Got much of my Lee equipment that way and an SKS a few years back.

I'll just call the local store if it's not a national set policy.

19 CREW - you're not doing your best work. I hope that you put a little more effort into post #65 than you did into #64. :whistling:

I never do, where's the closest Cabelas near St. Lou? I'm not to far out from there but I've never seen it.

I got one in the mail too, and was wondering what kind of discount they offered.

Probably take a run up there post Christmas while my in laws are here..... That should kill most of the day

Sounds like some folks in the area. I'll call the store and post the response if I can get one.

The answer from the St. Louis region store (via phone) was "up to 25% per item depending ion the item". With a place that big I'm never quite sure that I have gotten the full story but I plan on buying reloading supplies tomorrow and can route past Cabela's on the way to my usual supplier. IF I could get 25% off on bullets, primers or powders that I intend to buy that would push them below Grafs but if it's a close call I'll stick by the personal service of the reloading shop otherwise. They have my loyalty where I 'cherry pick' Cabela's and other big boxes.

    More once I've been.

Mingaa, any update? I am thinking of heading up in the next day or so. Was it worth your while?

Warning! Don't go out of your way for this sale!

I went to this sale several years ago and I was totally unimpressed and left without spending a cent. Don't expect to find the sales prices on anything, you have to take the item to the cashier.

My parents live in Florissant and whenever I head out to visit my dad takes me there. It's the only Cabelas I've been to (granted I've only been to three) that doesn't have a restaurant in the store...the mall wouldn't let them add it wanting the customers to go to the mall's food court instead. I have it easy here, I pass by the local Cabelas each day on my way to work.

I got one also and went to Cabelas in Fort Worth on Christmas Eve mid afternoon. I had to check with 3 people before they gave me the correct answer- they had to scan it, and it depends on what you are buying. I was looking at a Remington 870 Home Defense that was marked at $349, and the discount card would have brought the price down to $314. Not that good of a discount and a hassle to find out what the discount was.

I'm getting tired of these phoney sales, they remind me of car dealers, they will always get their price, they just use some back handed method to make you believe there's something special going on. The last time Cabela's had such a sale the prices weren't even discounted enough to justify the gas and I only live 15 minutes away.
