    High-caliber? LOL. Used by U.S. Special Forces? For what, squirrel hunting? I guess the reporter never heard of an M4. 40-hours training to learn how to fire an AR? If it takes 40 hours for a cop to learn how to handle an AR I don't want him protecting me.

    Sounds like a good start. Hopefully other districts will follow suit.

    And where is the hypocrisy? Has the district previously taken a stance against arming school officers with AR's?

    I'm sure they will be using 10 round magazines & getting rid of that evil pistol grip.

    I do think it would be funny if the parents of the children in that district get some outrage going over it.

    You have a problem with their officers getting some in-depth training? California POST requires 16 hours for rifle training; this department chooses to do more than the minimum. We need more like that.
